| 1. Child 44 by Tom Rob Smith Set in Stalinist Russia, a detective hunts down a serial killer responsible for the deaths of some 44+ children. In Russia however, there is officially no crime, so Leo (the detective) must solve these crimes secretly and quietly, all the while: his wife is pregnant, he is demoted and shipped away, fearing for his life, and he begins to question Communism and the state itself. Riveting, page turner, excellent novel, I highly recommend it. 2. Final Theory by Mark Alpert Book built on the premise that Einstein actually did discover Einhelde Feldtheri -- the theory of everything, the destroyer of worlds. A Princeton professor of Science History is found trying to make sense of a few ambiguous words from one of Einstein's personal assistants, all twoards the goal of pursuing the theory. The FBI and a mysterious mercenary both want the theory for themselves, however. |
