I'm with lawnmower on this one. _Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas_ is an extremely well written and entertaining book on marijuana, drugs, and the counter culture surrounding them. My favorite line is "A man in the depth of an ether binge is like the town drunk in an early Irish novel." It also mentions a billboard seen upon entering Nevada that says "Don't Gamble with marijuana. Possession: 10 years. Sale: Life." I think this speaks volumes about our nations ridiculous drug laws.
I apologize in advance to Cheap Talk's own resident Thompson-bigot, lawnmower, as I'm sure these quotes are not exact since I just pulled them off the top of my head and didn't look anything up.
As a side note, the movie adaption is probably my favorite movie version of any book ever. But I'll save that discussion for the movies forum. |
