| I just received the best book for my trip to Florida. It is called "The Great Shark Hunt".. And the author is, you guessed it Hunter S. Thompson, you probaly know him as the author of "Fear and Loathing IN Las Vegas". I bought this book after a freind read it and recomended it to me. I bought it off Amazon.com a week or so ago, and i just got it today, and have started on it early. After reading just 30 pages, i can tell there in no doubt that this book is the PERFECT book for me. It is written in such a great style, and i kept reading and reading. The Great Shark Hunt is a book on the views of Hunter and things he thinks ruined america. He talks about all the scandals that caused so many problems, and scared our nation. He really dives into each story he talks about, it is that type of writting that gives the book this pleasure, reading this book felt just so good! This is a link to more reviews on the book, and where you can order it. But they kinda suck on the shipping. They say 3-5 days, but i just got mine a few hours ago, right on time cause i leave early tommarow afternoon. I can't wait to sit on that beach and read this book!! Maybe at night with a blunt in my hand ![]()

| I don't think you need to worry about this book making you afraid of pools Plus pools are just so awesome! In fact i am afraid of pools myself man! Late at night, i would be in a pool and the lights in the pool would be on. And it was always so quiet, and i was worried a alligator would come out of that drain at the bottom, and come from below and bite me!! I swear man, just think about that the next time you are in a pool, it will scare the hell out of you! |

| Yep, the Great Shark Hunt is great. I particularly like the essay about the Kentucky Derby and the one about the hippies in the early days of the "Hashbury". The essay where he finally meets nemesis Richard Nixon is a good one too. The only ones that I found a bit heavy were the really involved ones about the election campaigns. Maybe they'd make more sense if you were interested in the American politics of the era, but I found I could only read so much about people I'd never heard of. ![]() Anyhow, great book. Oh yeah, and the essay about Oscar Acosta is excellent too, finally makes sense of who that crazy "Samoan" was... ![]()

| Yep, it's called something like "The Last of the Brown Buffalo", I think. It's all about him. His real name was Oscar Acosta, and he was a 250 lb Mexican, not a 300 lb Samoan. ![]() He was actually a civil rights Lawyer in Los Angeles. It's a really good essay, particularly if you've read Fear and Loathing. |

| I read the essay about the Kentucky Derby on a magazin call Trip (every once in a while the print something about him) After i saw the fear and loathing in Las Vegas i bought the book, now iīm going to buy the Hellīs Angels book i forgot the name now, but i remember i quote from Hunter, a reporter asked him how did he make it to join such a exclusive bickers gang he said " After 60-70 beers they start to get soft", and i read on the same magazine that he went to a doctor to see why his sweat was so weird, the doctor said that he took some many drugs that altered his glands for good, and on the same article said that today he lives in a ranch and shoots the rich neighbors chopers with his shotgun and he has a larger efect on my smoking buddie life, my friend decided to major in jornalism because of Hunter, he also wants to be a "Doctor of Jornalism"
