I have no ideia how come there is no thread about this book, probably one of the best books i´ve ever read. its so cool how George Orwell wrote it, and how its becoming true, how that the gov´t is controling are lifes more and more, maybe that camera-tv ideia is not so crazy.

5 doritos on the doritosman scale

1984 is a great book. If you like 1984 I would suggest reading Animal Farm another great book along with Lord of the Flies (man he had a lot of good books). George Orwell is one of my favorite authors.

Thumbs up

You people are right on the money. I had to read 1984, Animal Farm and Lord of the Flies for English back in my final two years of high school.

I didn't like Lord of the Flies as much because it was a bit dark and disturbing. But 1984 and Animal Farm were good to read and good to study and analyse.

One of you may have to correct me but isn't there a saying or slogan or whatever that goes something like;
"Whoever controls the present controls the past, and whoever controls the past controls the future"
Very insightful.

Anyway, thanks for reminding me of these great books. I might just have to see if I can find them again.

Cool Who controls what?

The winners write the history books.Whoever wins a war or conflict they are the ones who write the history books.We are manipulated by the media so much today that I really don't think that we get the straight scoop on anything,we just get what they want us to see.Its like this movement of ours-WE ARE WINNING!!!!
If the truth were put out on the world wide media,then the war would almost be over.I don't think that the politicians would be able to stop us if we could get world wide exposure to our cause.Orwell got it right.1984 has been with us for a long time.

1984 is one of the best books ever. I read it for the first time seven years ago and have read it a few more since then. I can honestly say that it really did change the way that I think and do things now.

Always wanted to read it, but never had a copy.

My friend John said that I, Robot was awesome, too. Might be worth looking into.

I've read this masterpiece, and plan to re-read it soon! Its incredibly relevant to our current situation, as well.

We've always been at war with Iraq... or was it Iran? ;p
