| I read a book in 6th grade, for the life of me I can't remember what the name was or who wrote it. I believe the title has the word "Fire" in it but I'm not totally sure. Anyway, it was an amazing book, and I really wish I could find it again. I think it's a fantasy type book. It's going to be hard to describe, but I'm going to try anyway and see if any of you have perhaps heard of it or read it. I don't even remember the plot really, but they're always in need of some kind of fire stones, its a very cold world, and the only people that can find these fire stones are certain seekers, and the story revolves around a female who thinks she can be a seeker but the only seekers are male. (btw, seeker isnt the right word, its something else but i cant think of it). but she eventually gets her wish. its a pretty thick book, so i cant remember very much of it (after all, it was 5 years ago..). I can understand if no one knows what the hoot i'm talking about. ![]() But if I could read that book again, it'd probably be my absolute favorite. The thing that still bugs me, is not too long ago I saw mention of it, the title was there, I wrote it down, and lost the paper I wrote it on. ![]()

| I checked various bookstores and went to the library. I found out that this book is not in print anymore. (sob sob) But, I'm going to check every library in this town to see if anyone has it. Maybe I can buy it used somewhere, who knows. |

| Amazon.com zShops has it cheap: http://s1.amazon.com/exec/varzea/subst/home/fixed.html See if you can find a book description/review elsewhere to make sure it's the one you're looking for, though. Try this too: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ISBN%3D0812536711/ | |

| I'll check out the reviews, but there's no way I'd order it over amazon. I'd rather search for years for it in used bookstores. And Mamabudz, I hope you can get in contact with her, that'd be great. ![]() But I'm just wondering, what will that do for me? Also, I still don't know whether that's the same book or not. The review on amazon makes it sound like a romance book, which I'm pretty sure it isn't. But I just don't remember that much about it. |

| Believe me it wasn't a romance...Diane was never one for fluffy bon-bon romance. Swashbuckling fantasy was always her thing...heroines in hip boots...yes!. She known for writing a a computer program to create a Romulan language for when she wrote the first ST hardcover novel. Don't know if she still does the Fan-Cons though...been a long time since that part of Mama's life I dropped her a letter, see if she has an extra copy around. We'll see if the link is still up on her web site and if 15 years is too long to remember me... though Papa says I'm rather hard to forget. Then I'll see if she will let you email her with your address... and arrange for the cost and exchange ... simple as that. Mama Budz * I Toke & I Vote* | |
