yes, true, but it isn't a broad charecterization. It is clearly written by a man who enjoys the the details of life. If doesn't have much ability to communicate abstract emotions or relationships. He is gifted at describing people lives but limited in giving them a rounded personality. I read his books for the action, technology and politcs, not for a charecter study.

Yeah, one of the first things I thought of on the day of the attack was that Tom Clancy (and many other people, of course) warned us how vulnerable we are. Sure, it wasn't a nuclear attack ("Sum of All Fears", which I think I read in August), but the fact remains that we were woefully unprepared despite the warnings of many intelligent people.

daniel - Actually, the Jack Ryan series starts with "Hunt for Red October", then "Patriot Games" - which was actually Clancy's third book. His second - "Red Storm Rising" - is probably my favorite.

I stand corrected.

Jack Ryan was introduced to us in The Hunt for Red October. Chronologically, he was introduced to us in "Without Remorse" as a young man about to join the Marine Corps.

Red Storm Rising is actually my favorite also. "Without Remorse" is my favorite that hang along the Jack Ryan books.

How could we prepare for a terrorist nuclear attack? The only preperation would be stopping the weapon from entering the country.

Just as an FYI.......... Red October came out in print first, but Patriot Games takes place prior to Red October in the timeline. Without Remorse is first in the timeline, then Patriot Games, then Red October.

My least favorite turns out to be many peoples most favorite, Cardinal of the Kremlin.

I think I'd have to say Rainbow 6 was my favorite. (I don't dare say Clear and Present Danger on here )

My least favorite also. You have to admit though, the sence deprivation tank used to extract a confession was an interesting concept.
