| When i first heard about the WTC and pentagon attacks i immediately though of Tom Clancy's novels. There is one story about a pilot who drives his 747 into the pentagon (End of "Debt of Honor"). This got me thinking about some of Clancy's other books. The next book in the series continues the plane thing then later has a middle eastern terrorist who launches a biological attack on the US using the ebloa virus so i was half expecting some kind of biological attack. Well right on queue the anthrax thing happened. Anyway. Thats what I have for you all |

| I thought of that one also. First you had a war between the US and Japan. At the end, some Japanese pilot (I believe his name was Sato) who had lost a brother in the war decided to take an airplane and destroy the capital, taking the president, joint chiefs, supreme court out with him. This set up Jack Ryan being President without much else of a government. The bio attack that Clancy wrote about was interesting also. The way that the media reported it, the way that the politicians bickered and the way people came together is similar to what we are seeing today. The book (Executive Orders) also has a few things that hasn't happened (that we know of). An assination attempt on President Ryan by one of his secret service members was one. The other was "The Ryan Doctrine". In the book, the US finds out who was responsible for the attacks and puts a laser guided bomb through his house live on TV. I believe that this guy lived in Afganistan too. Interesting.... Did the terrorists read the book, or did Clancy just have some insight? |

| ooops. yup happy, you do remember correct. I just hope they didn't read "the sum of all fears". The terrorists (organised by arabs with the professional help of former East Germans) managed to nuke the superbowl... |

| Yep... They had help from a (described in the book as not sane) native american that had his brother killed by the FBI's Hostage Rescue Team. The terrorists decided to kill him prior to setting off the nuke in Denver. I wonder if they actually take people in their camps like that, train them, have them do the "mission" then kill them. (shrug) These series of books, starting with "Patriot Games" though fiction, I highly recommend for folks that want a view of what happens with our government in crisis. Clancy has a pretty good insight on what happens. Over the past few days, I have been re-reading Patriot Games. I will probably read the rest of them over the next week or two. Daniel |

| Is books are interesting, The last one I read was Executive Orders...which I think is the one we're talking about. I haven't been interested in reading any of his new ones. But maybe I'll pick one up. |

| Clancy rocks! His books are always on the cutting edge, usually very technically accurate and his character development is terrific. He is the only fiction author I read regularly and I'm really obsessive about it when I start reading one of his book. However, I don't think there is any connection, it's merely that he has a fertile imagination. This is the same reason that the govt. has Hollywood producers and directors dreaming up possible attack scenarios for them right now. These guys are out of the box thinkers.

![]() When I was in the Marine Corps, I came very close to loosing a stripe because I spent an entire evening and most of the early morning devouring "Without Remorse". I didn't get in on time the next day and got into a bit of trouble. Honestly, I didn't care. The book was very close to my style of thinking. I don't know if that is good or bad. Daniel | |
