| I've been reading the psychodelic expirience. You can find it at www.erowid.org. I think they have a lot of his works, and works by some other people on similar topics. | |

| Woah...that place is pretty cool. Thanks for posting the link stoned philosopher. I found this quote their: "None of Dr. Leary's most important studies have either suffered refutation or enjoyed confirmation, because enacted law, statues enacted after and because of Dr. Leary's research - makes it a crime for any other psychologists or psychiatrists to replicate such research. I know you've heard that the Inquisition ended in 1819, but in many areas of psychotherapy and medicine, the U.S. government has taken up where the Vatican left off." Robert Anton Wilson | |

| god damn it... I've been trying to respond to this thread for days but I just can't seem to articulate my feelings. I'm trying to find a nice way of saying that I think Leary is an idiot but I just can't seem to find the words. So excuse me if I seem blunt and confrontational, I'm just having a hard time here. I credit him with taking the psychedelic culture to the masses, but his "studies" always seemed more to me as though they were just an excuse to party. On top of that, the guy was such a womanizer! Read Jay Stephens' Storming Heaven some time. A rather large section of the book is dedicated to Leary's early years. I just remember this video I was watching called Cyberpunk (old school) a few years back that featured a quick interview with Leary as he wildly proposed a global network of communication. A forum for free sharing of ideas and memes. I wanted to nudge him with my elbow and tell him that we've had one of those since the 60's. It's called the internet. Lovely thing, it is. | |

| Jr. Member | I dont think hes an idiot, hes a genius! Even though he isnt first of his kind in his field but his ideas are ingenious even though i do disagree with some of them (like the overall idea of everyone taking acid and psychodelic drugs). Yes some of his ideas is an excuse to party then again how are your gonna have fun then? Anyway i agree with terrence mckenna more than leary. |
