I liked Star Wars when I was younger, but since then I've come to believe that it gave me a lot of misconceptions about the realities of life. For example, after college, I went into the TV news business thinking that I could get away with damaging and breaking expensive pieces of equipment without having to answer to my boss for it. After all, Luke went through the Hell of the Deathstar battle without ever having to write a memo to his superiors at the Rebel Alliance explaining exactly what happened that caused him to damage such an expensive R2D2 unit........

^^^ LOL

I'm a huge star wars fan but the two books in the continuity that I read were absolutely miserable, and according to the fan consensus, those two are the two best written of all of them. What does that say of these books?

I read Heir to the Empire and Shadows of the Empire and thought they were both so incredibly lame. Poor writing really killed the myth for me so when people start talking about the backgrounds of characters established in these stories I just disregard them. If it didn't happen in the movies, it didn't happen at all.
