I read Brave New World last year...man it was pretty interesting. Aldous Huxley was one intuitive guy. The so called "savage" seemed to be the only cleared minded character...most everyone else was a slave to "soma." John was rejected by the brave new world so he was forced to kill himself. When John the "savage" dies, it represents the isolation and death of an artist in a world that doesn't value him. Even though John was put b/t two worlds, he was worse off in the Brave New world because he tried to impose his ideas in that world. He ended up being a freak in both worlds. The purpose of Brave New World is to act as a warning for the future, but many people have ignored this warning. I supose if we're not careful we too could be headed for a brave new world.

p.s. Just an interesting fact, the band the Doors got their name from one of Aldous Huxley's essays entitled "The Doors of Perception"-it's about exploring the unopened doors of the mind.

p.s.s. - Another good book with a similar but different concept is George Orwell's 1984...it's pretty good.

Default i really liked it

i like that part right on the begging that he tells how babies are made, and how some are made for a specific job. Its like their whole lives are already written and they cant do squat about it.

*65,000 reptions makes a truth*
*Promiscuity is a citenz duty* <---- me like this one!
i forgot the others about how you should throw stuff away and buy new stuff and dont try to repair the broken things
