| Can be anything from sci fi to D&D fantasy, as long as it isnt the 2001 series, the Dune Chronicles or Lord of the Rings (iam planning on reading that soon anyway)

| I'm not a big sci fi reader, but one year i had to read Ender's Game for school...I'm not sure who wrote it, but it was really good...and that's coming from a person who isn't big on sci-fi.

| Ender's Game is by Orson Scott Card, one of my favorite books, a true classic. There's a few sequels, Speaker for the Dead, Xenocide, and Children of the Mind, and possibly a few other related works. None of them are as vital as Ender's Game. Also check out some Robert A. Heinlein. Starship Troopers was an incredible novel of his which hollywood ruined by making into a low-brow action movie. Larry Niven's got some good stuff as well. His ringworld series is great. Also check out some of the stuff he did with jerry pournelle, The Mote in God's Eye is very interesting. Gotta give some props to Isaac Asimov. The Foundation series and the Robot Chronicles are classics. Another one of my fav's is Phillip K. Dick. His stuff can get kinda weird, but it's very enjoyable.

| if you are a Starwars fan, try the *Han Solo Trilogy*. also, Douglas Adams *Hitchhikers Guide to the Universe* (5 books total) are a good read.

| Orson Scott Card recently wrote a parallel book to Ender's Game centered on Bean, Ender's friend. It's called Ender's Shadow and wasn't bad. For science fiction I'd like to recommend Octavia E. Butler and CJ Cherryh. Everything they write is good. With fantasy however, it's all about Neil Gaiman. American Gods, Stardust, Good Omens, and Smoke and Mirrors (a collection of short stories) are all brilliant. Like, not just "well, that was a good book" but more like, "I wonder if I can get a discount if I buy more than a dozen copies to give away to my friends."
