| Yup, Pages, there's been at least 2 threads on this before - but one more can only be a good thing. 420SmokerNYC - I'd say try "The Great Shark Hunt" first. It's long, but it has some great stuff in it. You might want to skip section 2 until you get really into it - it's the presidential campaign stuff - but the rest is excellent. My favorite two essays are "Freak Power in the Rockies" - an essay about his involvment in a mayoral campaign in Aspen - and "The Hashbury is the Capital of the Hippies". The latter was written first-hand (HST was actually living in the Haight-Ashbury just before the whole thing exploded) and is a brilliant article on the then-emerging hippie scene. In an era where a "vicious greedhead" like George W. Bush has become President of America, HST's writings are more essential than ever. Long live Uncle Duke!!!
