Default Read any good books lately?

We seem to have a fairly literate user base here. I was just wondering that everyone is reading.

I recently finished The Metaphysical Club : A Story of Ideas in America by Louis Menand. It is a tough read as it covers the history of American social and legal philosophy. A basic understanding of philosophy would be helpful when reading it. The books also has some interesting histories of the development of the university in the U.S. Mostly New England and specificaly the Boston area.

Default nice

thanx happyman
here are some faves
any Irvine Welsh- he wrote trainspotting (its harsher than the movie but )his other books are equally awesome but written in scottish slang (i found this made it more fun to read)

Papillon and midnight express - both thrillers you wont put down

David Sedaris - Barrel fever , Naked -both really funny

siddhartha- herman hess
zaarthustras discourses- neitzche
The Alchemist- Paul Coehlo? made me smile
nice and deep

120 days of sodom - marquis de Sade ( i found this in an Australian used book shop - I never thought anything like this had legally been published before, my only assumption could be that not many people have read it) very perverse but a great insight into how twisted the human mind can think.

The Vancouver book - Only interesting if you live in Vancouver, then its amazing, the history of every building, waterfountain, streetname, interesting facts ectecetcet

On another note
Do many people use their Library?????---- Its one of my favorite places to be when im cooked. The only problem is where to begin, and people dont bother you.

I bought 'fast food nation' by Eric Schlosser on a whin yesterday. Since then I have read about half the 300 page book. Very interesting and informative. Just when I thought I didn't need any more reasons to eat fast food, here they are.

For you psychology fans, "On Killing: The Psychological effect of learning to kill in war and society" is a great read. It will totally change your views on the Vietnam veterans, on how Tv affects us and desensitizes us, and the mental effect on a man who has killed. Highly Recommended
