Which, IMHO, would probably just turn out being like every other on-a-journey story out there. |
I agree with you that harry must go back to Hogwarts -- and I have a feeling that there is a caveat somewhere that will force him to do so ...

Hogwarts was such a big part of the book, my heart just sank when I read the last few pages and Harry said he wouldn't be going back to Hogwarts whether it reopened or not.

...that's good writing

And even if he does go back to Hogwarts, I can't imagine Mcgonnagal as the headmistress. I really wish Rowling didn't kill off Dumbledore, Dumbledore had this nice aura about him that she just couldn't replace.

Also, I absolutely hated how she had to start incorporating all these relationships into the book. I just never pictured Harry as a lovesick kid who went around "snogging" his girlfriends. Especially Ginny, that just disappointed me.

incorporating? the hints for these were back in the first two books -- I had the whole thing pegged (except for Bill and Phlegm, eh Lefleur and Tonk and the Prof.)

I have to say, I definitely don't think this compares to the other books. My "wow factor" was lost after the Goblet of Fire, which is still my favorite one. But that may be because I accidentally knocked the Order of the Phoenix into the toilet after taking a crap and I didn't flush yet. Thus I was unable to concentrate much since my mind wouldn't stop lingering on the fact that my fingers were turning pages stained a tannish-brown color.
Sorry, too much information?

Anyway, I just wasn't impressed at all with the Half-Blood Prince. I can only hope that it gets better from here.

I think it was an important transitional book in the story ...

Not to mention the climax was enitrely ruined when I was online-window-shopping and came across this: Attachment 4966 |
Ain't T-Shirt Hell grand? There is an UK verision too

Speaking of the climax, unlike the other Harry-Potter novels, this one seemed to spend the whole time going on about the same things until the last few pages. The other books seemed to hold my interest throughout, building a climax as the story went on. But this one was just like, *same old, same old...BAM Dumbledore dies*
Le Sigh.

I think the author wants you to pay attention to those things they went over and over -- but I could be wrong...
When is the next book due out?
