| Although this isn't a book, I thought it would be an interesting essay for you all to read anyway. Originally written in 1849 about the Mexican-American war and slavery, it basically shows his dislike for government. It's written on the idea that if a law is unjust, you can't obey it, for that shows that you agree with, or at least can live with, the law. The only way to get away from unjust laws, he says, is to try to get the law changed through legislation while actively disobeying it.
