Harry Turtledove is a Sci Fi writer who specializes in Alternate history.
This was one of those books that I just couldn't put down.
One of the interesting parts was in the description of the efforts of the Southern gun experts to backward engineer the AK-47s, not to mention the ammo as well.

Thats really abstract. I love it. Sort of. Is all scifi like that now? I've been reading nonfiction for years.
