| Hey hey, everyone, I know, I'm a veritable prodigal child, right? And of course, my first real come-back is a request for help! So typical, isn't it? Ahem, anyway, I'm currently doing a big project for my post 1800 british lit survey class, specifically on the development of early twentieth century Nation Language into Jamaica into Reggae. Unfortunately, I'm having a spot of trouble on finding sources... but not with Reggae. No matter what I try searching for- patois, creole, or nation language itself (which turns up almost NOTHING), I get the most pathetic of sources. Unfortunately, due to financial constraints, I'm limited mostly to what I can find at local and campus libraries, so while actual book recommendations are welcome (I mean, I can always check for them, right?), it'd be a lot more helpful if anyone has any tips on how to locate what books there are on the subject... is there a term that I'm just not familiar with that might seem obvious? I'm at a loss. I'm going to go ask my professor after our next class (who will probably be able to provide all the help I need... he's already recommended one source that is kind of an in-between), but I thought that with the diversity of people we got on here, there's probably a good chance that someone'd be able to lend a hand, and it won't hurt to check (or have sources that my professor didn't point me to and I chase like a good pavlovian dog...) Thanks for any help you guys can offer!

| You may want to include these terms in your searching: Etymology: The study of the history of words AND Philology: The study of how words change from culture to culture over time |
