I looked around and this site appears very helpful to anyone who wants to get off the herb. It lists side-effects from stopping, which could helpful in people quitting wondering where these unusual symptoms from quitting a "non-addicting" drug came from. Just cause it's not for everyone doesn't mean it is hilarious: weed is a drug and as such there are people who will want to stop using it but need help and support, please respect that aspect of MJ with all the others, thank you.

Marijuana may be something that I think is pretty safe and harmless to use, but that doesn't mean that people can't develop a problem with it. I mean you can be addicted to things like TV if youre a weirdo and the same 12 step process is relevant. I don't think its really funny, if someone has tons of problems in their life because they spend all their money on weed and neglect responsibilities than they should be taken seriously if they think their life would be better without it. I think anyone in this situation at least deserves some support.

I read some of the teen stories on that site. Most of the problems that the teens were having were a result of the marijuana laws not marijuana itself. They had to do with "being caught" and getting "expelled" and such. That is exactly why we need to work together to help these people have a clean record.

The other thing that's interesting is the only two cases I read about where there might have been a problem involve other things too, not just marijuana. One teenager explains that when he was 11 he started doing cigarettes, at 12 he started getting heavily into alcohol, followed by marijuana at 13 and hard drugs at 14. Then he said he pulled out a knife and swung at his dad.

Okay, well, I don't know about you, but swinging a knife at your dad doesn't come as the result of smoking pot, for real, it comes from other problems that often result in violence, drug abuse and depression.

Just because a depressed person turns into an alcoholic doesn't mean that everyone who drinks will and should stop drinking. Likewise, just because someone is using drugs to escape problems in life doesn't mean everyone else is, and I think that most people who never smoked marijuana often don't understand that smoking marijuana isn't an activity reserved for lower class losers.

The real "drug abuse" problem isn't the recreational use of a drug, it is the use of a drug to escape real life responsibilities and consequences of actions. That, I believe, is where the line should be drawn.

I think it's safe to say that for the most of us, smoking pot is not at all unhealthy, and is a clean source of fun that may even be healthier than drinking to oblivion at parties.

Drugs such as pot aren't physically addictive. Certain personalities may adpot a psychological addiction to pot but people who do so by nature have "addictive personalities."

I would much rather see a site that treats the "addictive personality" than one that seems to imply marijuana is causing all these problems for people as a result of its addictive property. Even though the site tries to remain unbiased by refusing to give its stance on the legalization of marijuana, it seems to imply that marijuana is a big problem for a lot of people. That sort of implication scares people.

Default I like this...

"Q: What physical side effects does the use of marijuana cause?

A: The pamphlet "Detoxing from Marijuana" that is on this web page does not contain medically based knowledge, but empirical knowledge based on the experiences of many MA members who took the time to fill out extensive questionnaires regarding their own early days of abstinence from their drug of choice. This pamphlet should answer most of your questions on common physical side effects."

It does NOT contain medically based knowledge! Hehe, just thought I'd bring that, I found that within seconds of looking so there is probably alot more stuff like that on there .

Not to put this thing down, it probably does help people that are addicted somehow to marijuana so it may be a good thing if you ever wanted to quit (not me, no way!).

Default I'm sorry to say this

But

One: PsychoDonkey what would you believe, medical studies, or your own experiences? These guys experiences match my own. Plus my friends are probably a little older and a little more experienced than you and yours (but maybe not). My toking group used to use the fact, "hey, it's not addicting, that's great!" Now, a few years later (and pounds and pounds of herb later) they'll all attest that is addicting, and the cigarette-smokers who have tried to quit both, herb and cigs, said they are different, but quitting one is equally as hard as quitting the other. Sure, medically it is not physically addicting. But NOTICE that this WASN'T the sentence: Marijuana isn't addicting. Take that however you want.

TWO: (ties in with one) the occurence of addictive personalities is supposed to be low, and they don't get addicted to everything that has a potential of being addictive, it's individual like us. That being said, I've asked many people the question: is marijuana addicitve? (these boards got me asking). They ALL said that is definitely is. I asked too many people for it to simply be attributed to incidences of "addictive personalites" or "psychological addiction" or even the two combined. I had to have a definitive answer for this myself because I wanted to know. My gut said it was addicitive, along with WoD-sided propaganda, but all the pot activists claim otherwise. Well no they don't. I know a slough of them who believe it's addictive.

Now not all of them want off the drug, or have ruined their lives because there were times they had to have a hoot that conflicted with their lives. In fact none of them want off the drug, except to take time off to appreciate it more later and lower their tolerance. But they still say it is addictive.

I propose this instead of the "not physically but psychologically/if you have an addictive personality" pile of crap:

Marijuana is slightly addictive.

Any takers?

and if anyone wants to treat that site like a WoD propagandist lie, I say go for it!

Just form the opinion YOURSELF, not because Gina says it's hilarious, or because I say it's useful for some.

peace

There's one thing that I really find wrong with this site, the fact that they bring God into this. These people are using God to make people believe marijuana is evil. How do they know God says marijuana is evil? It's sort of like using his name in vain. Pretty ****ed up if you ask me. And is it just me or do most of the questions in FAQ go unanswered or what?
