The Bible can be used as proof that any point is valid, which, I think, just goes to show that it can prove no point as valid. I've seen posts from people on the board who have used it as evidence for legalization. So, what's your point?

The comparison to beer and marijuana is outlandish. The first article is about drugs in general, alcohol is a drug. The second piece is nothing but an attempt to justify one habit by comparing it to another habit, and not even accurately.

The comparisons are ludicrous in my opinion but in either case this thread is getting moved to Spiritual Aspects.

My mother was a Christian and of course my grandparents were, so I grew up a Christian. I am not anymore because now I am educated and not just indoctrinated. Part of the problem with the powerful religious right ("you shouldn't smoke pot because you were made in God's image and your body is a temple" people ) is that is dogmatic. " I believe this on religious grounds and therefore you shouldn't be allowed to WHATEVER."

Christian mythology has its place, but there are so many dogmatic Christians that it is warping everybody. It is like the religious right saying "I believe that life is sacred and abortions should be banned." This "I believe so you shouldn't" stuff isn't right. What if the powerful (not the majority) believed that if you cannot support a child or that you can only have two and that if you cannot show how you could support a child or on having your third one, the powerful (majority?) believed they should haul you away and make you have an abortion and fix you permanently. Well, then the religious right would look at you like you were mad trying to impose your beliefs on their lives.


People that are against MJ dogmatically are trying to impose their will over everybody. They do not even listen to reason and do not care about our rights. When they try to impose their will on my life, I CALL IT OPPRESSION. When they set up road blocks with drug sniffing dogs and make me take drug test to prevent me from making a living, allow me to be fired for having a little THC in my system, want to charge me with a felony and send me to jail for having a half ounce of MJ, I call that tyranny.

Is that so hard to understand? If I don't drink a drop of alcohol, don't smoke(or throw my butts out the window), take no hard drugs, and not addicted or any pain killers, Valium, Xanex, Ecstasy, oxycoton or the like that I have shown some good judgement in how to live my life. I am a decent guy that would never steal from you or lie to you, much less deceive you. Now if I act responsibly why shouldn't I be allowed to smoke a joint? You are oppressing me. You are making me pay too much for something I could grow in my back yard. I could eat it or at least make it stronger so I wouldn't have to inhale as much smoke and I could use filters without being charge for having paraphernalia. You are making me support a prison/law enforcement establishment that is too powerful and you are making a criminal element that also wants growing MJ to be illegal so they can keep the price up and keep our money. You are making people steal because of the money involved, not because of the substance involved. You are making people leave their homes and waste gas and time and overcrowd the roads polluting the air as they go chasing down a little weed and sometimes taking the back roads at that. People could easily burn 8 pounds of gas to get one quarter an ounce of pot that they should be allowed to grow.(Sure the government is going to get money like they make people in Canada pay for permits when they grow it for medical reasons) You are not creating hardships on 20 million people, you are creating hardships on everybody.

Not only are the dogmatic Christians oppressing me they are making the world a worse place. I want things to be as good for everybody as possible. Think how many people that woke up hung over after their Friday night drunk and said " I will never do that again" actually never would if they could have recreational use of MJ. The alcohol companies think of it all the time and alcohol is by far the most abused drug in this country. Gee, do you think they want MJ legalized? Get this in your head- "MARIJUANA IS A SENSIBLE ALTERNATIVE TO ALCOHOL."

I was a Christian once and God never spoke to me and I never saw an angel. I saw from "Jesus to Christ." I don't believe in Christian mythology, but I am not for fining you or imprisoning you just because you believe a man lived 900 years and that all the animals in the world were saved because a man squeezed them on a small wooden boat and that every word of the Bible is true. I guess the King Henry the 8th edition had a few things wrong and that King James's team got it exactly right. (The inspired word of God exactly as he gave it to man 2000 years ago before he quit speaking to us.)

At least I let you live life your way and if you are happy with your beliefs I am happy for you, even though I completely disagree with you. The Christian beliefs are supposed to be about love, peace, and understanding. Show some love and try not to impose your belief system on everybody. Where is the understanding? Your dogmatic beliefs are hurting me more than mine are hurting you. Your own beliefs are hurting you and you don't know it. Don't you think I want the world to be a better place? Peace.
