| Hello, I just joined and look forward to reading everyone else's posts and following any interesting discussions (and perhaps joining in if I have anything to add). Anyway, if you have 5 seconds I'd greatly appreciate it if you could vote on the poll located at the bottom of this page: http://www.norfolkdailynews.com/ It's about drugs and what to do about them. I voted for legalizing drugs, but feel free to vote what you think makes sense. Thanks. | |

| Jr. Member | I don't see how sending someone to jail for deciding to put something in their body makes sence. It just doesn't work. I feel that cannibis should be legal and availiblle to the public. However, harder drugs should be availible by prescription. I like Amsterdam's policy, I think they have it right. smokin ![]()

| PRG Coordinator | (A dangerous drug) is a dangerous drug, and I don't approve of it's use. And the people who make it are inconsiderate assholes, given how dangerous it is to make the stuff. But I don't think we need to throw users of it in jail; we should get them treatment. However, given the dangers of a (The same dangerous drug) lab, I think we should throw the book at people who make the stuff...

| JPJ_Glassware: I don't do (Not allowed) or make(Not allowed) or have any other involvement with (Not allowed), but I think it should at least be decriminalized, and probably legalized. Unlike marijuana or cocaine or whatever else, it's not grown and imported, but rather made from a hodge-podge of mostly common chemicals (as far as I know). So, as long as there's a population that wants it, a person can turn $100 in ingredients to $1000 in sales, for $900 profit. That's an amazing turnaround, which is why making (Not allowed), even if dangerous, is profitable. I think humans are notorious for not realizing the future (sometimes far distant) or only possible consequences (i.e. jail) of actions and this is no exception. I don't understand your labeling meth makers "inconsiderate" because it's dangerous to make meth -- please explain. If we throw the book at one (Not allowed) maker, another (sigh) maker will take its place, considering the great business opportunity that putting one away provides. As to users, I agree gdman 420 that it doesn't make sense to put someone (an adult) in jail for putting a chemical in their body. I think drugs should be legal and available, and if someone commits a crime that stems from drug-use, such as drunk driving, child neglect, or any other one, they should lose their drug privilege, and have to go through mandatory treatment. In the case of drunk driving, they should lose their alcohol privilege for 6 months, doubling for every latter offense (in addition to initial jail time / probation), for child neglect, well, with proper distribution there would be safeguards so that somehow parents either choose to be a drug-user or give their child up for adoption. Tough, but necessary. | |
