i dont think that michael moore and the dixie chicks can be compared.

theyre too different, and do things for totally different reasons.

for instance, the dixie chicks need people to like them in order to be successful.

the more unpopular m moore is, the more widely recognized he becomes.

also, i think that what the dixie chicks expressed, however briefly, was an opinion.

i think that what m moore does can more adequately be described as a lifestyle.

The Dixie Chicks is a prime example of how our society is conditioned to respond to "unpatriotic" people who show dissent for war, i.e. the War in Iraq. It's common war propaganda, declare anyone who disagrees with war unpatriotic and make fun of them, such as boycotting their CDs.

Come on, we all made fun of the Dixie Chicks long before they came out as anti-war, which was just an attempt to get more publicity

Plus they took so much heat because they do country music; most of the musicians in that genre are extremely pro-Bush.
