| I wrote this as a birthday present for my father, since his father was a poet and had a book in print. Now, my own father has two of his own books of poetry in print. I recorded this (and yes I re-used some music from the "ode to the sweet leaf" poem I already did) -- but I feel that the music in this poem fits better. I never knew my grandfather. He was a hard-working, hard-drinking longshoreman with a hard-rock mine up here in Alaska. Pennsylvania-dutch heritage and really a source of inspiration for my own father. After reading my grand-dad's book...I decided to write this: Quote:
