The hard part of all this was going to be keeping yours yours truly alive. I hadn't went thru everything I'd went thru just to blow it away for nothing. Hey, the biggest adventure of my life was about to start.

I watched everyone sleep, secure that as long as I watched them all I could at least count on not being shot, stabbed or blown up......

Ah, Ohio. I fired up a spliff as we all got off I. Paca's private jet and boarded the Suburbans.

"Off we go,'eh Jay?'

"I, old man, I think we we're all off before we started....."

Ohio is green. Farm land that rolls on and on from the river to the interior, green and heavy. But there is one spot that for some reason missed that greenage. They say it's where the glacier stopped, and they could be right, but I guess it doesn't matter, because it's where the Indians built a sacred, ceremonial burial ground or cemetary called Serpent mound.
It's an earthen mound of a snake eating a rabbit and at over a hundred feet long, pretty impressive.

We arrived at our final civilization that night and hit the excuse for a hotel. I fired up a joint and had to hit the shotgun bong three more times before I could hit the shower.

After coming out of the shower, I fired up the chillum and called Doc Pammy.

"Hey Doc, howz It?'

Hey Jay, your lookin' good,..>"

"Sorry Doc, Just got out of the shower..." I slipped on a towel. "Not like it's not your's Doc. You hooked it all up."

"Jay, the secret of all this is you accepting that the "equipment" is you! You and it are one! You are Jay Token...Pot Detective! Not a cripple with a bunch of machinery attached, but it's you Jay, you."

I fired up the chillum and rubbed Buds head as I signed off. This is the only way I could have any kind of chance of getting back at the people who had done this to me. The ones who had blown up the limo with me in it would pay if I had anything to do with it.


A shadowy figure watched the hotel from across the street, staring at the room that held Jay and thinking that he wouldn't miss the elusive detective a second time. Not a second time......

I fired up a chillum as I awoke, and stared out the hotel window for a moment. Now nothing was at odds with my day as I fired up a joint, but I noticed a guy just sitting in a car across the road from the hotel. I wouldn't of thought anything about it but at six thirty in the morning, stuff like this strikes me as odd.

I threw on a shirt and went down to see if I could get to talk to him, and when I get down there he's gone. I'm standing in the street in both directions and there's nothing. I turned around and went back to the hotel.

I took Bud for his well deserved walk and smoked a few bowls full as I thought about the man and his early morning appearance and then his disappearance. Something was scratching at me then I would loose it. I needed a jump start on breakfast, so Bud and I joined the other's.

"Not very talkative today, are we Jay?" I. Paca was smiling at me when I looked at him. I. Paca was all right in my book.

"Did anyone else see a guy sitting across the street this morning? Just sitting?"

The blank stares just made me think all the harder, cause folks, I was missing something here.

I could just feel it.

"Well, if were all done then, we should be off." I Paca set off and all the rest followed in a line. The great safari had begun. With me as bwana, I just didn't know.

Then it hit me and I was never so sure of anything in my life.

"Stop I yelled as I went out the door. Who has all the keys for the vehicles?" One of the driver's came forward and handed over three sets.

"Everybody needs to step back, OK?"

With strange looks on their faces, they complied. I pushed the remote start on the first SUV and it purred to life without a stutter.

I pushed the second one and the world went white and hot as I was pushed around the brick corner I'd been standing behind.

Everyone just kinda stared at the remains of three SUV's mostly flames now, but burning real well as i walked up and fired up a hash oil spliff.

"Think you'll get your money back on those warranty's I Paca?" Some how every body missed the humor of it.
