The tide that is seen


Priorities of emotion
That flow like the ocean.
High tide, low tide,
Yet you can’t see my side.

You think the tide is always high
Look harder - it is low.

I wish you did know
That the tide comes and goes
With the gravity of the moon
But no, you’ve left too soon.

The high tide changes to low
With tear drops of salt water
Flowing so slow
Down the soft sand they stream
And yet you can’t see what those tears mean
Because you left too soon
And you’ve already walked past the dunes.

Tomorrow you will return to my shore
And you will say, “Ah, it is high tide once more”
Conveniently enough, the low will continue to be ignored.

That's great! That last stanza really nails everything together. There are a lot of people who are that way, aren't there.
