Ensure Contentment to Ensure Complacency to Ensure Conformity

There are great evils at work in our society today. They fight us each on individual battlefields in a war most fail to comprehend. Unrecognized and unopposed these evils pervade our us, insidious they pull at our minds.

These great evils present themselves to us as conformity and complacency. You question, unseeing, as to how two such mediocre nouns could constitute threats to our great homo-sapien civilization.

To explane I’ll point out that lurking in your question is the product of combination of these two evils. Mediocrity- of middle quality. In every facet of our society it has become a point to be aimed at. People strive to be average with alarming consequences. Those falling either side of average may be ridiculed and labeled. Attached to a group so they can be considered normal and not a threat.

So what? you cry. You have showed us no evil. People conform and life continues much as it always has. This pressure to conform brings no shattering earth changes upon us. If anything it helps preserve the status quo, ensure the continuation of simple peace and prosperity. But that is the evil it brings. Because it renders no changes on us it stifles our process of evolution.

We are stuck with a society riddled by terminal diseses of the soul. Hypocrisy, apathy, ignorance, arrogance, greed and injustice abound. Perverted capitalist supremacy is ensured by bureaucracy and brainwashing. Governments control our actions and media ensnares our mind. Far more devastating is the later which empoverishes us with one hand, then teaches us to like it with the other. We are kept content with materialist trinkets, captives in a prison of our own devising.

This is open and visable to everyone. Commonsense would have you all see the reasoning but for carefully constructed barriers that allow us to turn our heads as our souls die.

The first barrier we present to ourselves is the argument that progress is in no way stalled. That my writing is blatant extreemist exageration easily written off when you observe the human race going ahead in leaps and bounds. Unfortunately you are a victim. You have been confused that technological advancements are a substitution for moral and cultural progression. New technologies do not further us, but only our contentment and feed our complacancy by steeping us in meaningless wealth that is the new centuries opiet to the masses.

Where in the years of wealth and the land of the free is the furtherment of the human soul? Philosophy receeds to a laughable shadow and in the last 50 years the western world produces few great men of morals. Then by various means, not the least of which is selective memory through selective history, their teachings are lost and lay if not forgotten then for some reason ignored.

The second barrier is an attempt to negate the argument. Very well, you say. Society has stalled in its furtherment of human mind, so what? I am happy as it is. To obtain this view you must be one of three things; more thoroughly brainwashed than the first man, more cynical than him or more powerful than him.

To be more thoroughly brainwashed is easy. Through personality, education or environment you have been coerced into the loss of your human soul. I use soul not in the imperialistic, religious sense but rather in referance to the part of you which holds your conscience and morals and formulates your ideals. This part of you has been stripped or more likely and lamentably diluted through the carefully crafted system in place to ensure contentment to ensure complacency to ensure conformity.

Take a step back and regard the world. Is it as it should be? Can you honestly be happy with the status quo? You do not live a perfect life, perhaps you never will, but is that a reason to not try? An attempt at perfection is a necissary step not towards perfection, an unattainable goal, but a necissary step so that the human journey finds a path that we may all enjoy to travel.

To be more cynical is also easy. It is my personal route when not aroused by rebel sentiment. Something enables you to see the fraud, see the facade but not to see through it or fully comprehend it. What is recognized is that fighting has immediate and negative consequences. You cast around for a while but find no success and come to regard the whole thing with a cynical eye that tells you it’s a battle not worth fighting. The cynic may have moments of outburst and rebellion but these are often just as much to look down on those who do not see at all as it is to actually inspire change.

To be more powerful is a state I feel poorly equipped to comment on. Specimens of this variety are simply not found. Rational thought dictates there must be a "ruling class." A section of society that gains by our moral loss. Corrupt politicians and buisnessmen present themselves as an easy target on which we can place this burden, but it seems there actions, which may further the three C’s, are more personaly motivated by greed rather than a conscious effort.

So far this ruling class is elusive and unidentifiable.You could attribute this to elaborate conspiracies. Myself I see a different sort of ruling class. I see them in myself, I see them in all of us. The profit of our moral loss is not enjoyed by a group of evil, semi-mystical beings, but rather our egotistical, hedonistic selves.

We must turn inwards to combat this threat. We must engage in contemplation, meditation and never forget to question. No longer must things be taken for granted. No longer will "because" be a suitable answer. We will not be corrupted and coerced, we will live life on our own values, by our own morals. You will be you, not a you perverted from birth by others wills and ideals being forced upon you.

Then evolution will roll forward once more. Nietzsches superman will again become a goal and the masses will strive to be extraordinary not ordinary. Human life will further itself to the point where if it could be seen today it would be seized upon and worshipped. Most importantly a path for us may be found on which all may enjoy the scenery.

All this will only happen though if we are not permitted to destroy ourselves first. We walk a thin line, flirting with catastrophe and courting disaster. Wars are being fought on all fronts to save us from ourselves. Some fight to save our physical selves, others to save our planet, I myself do my small part for the preservation of our moralities and intelligence in the hope of another inch forward in the process of change.

I hope when this reaches people it may awaken many but I realistically know it will be ignored by many more. If it reaches someone and they are scarred by it, then they should know, that I am alive and after 16 years have only just begun.
