My dog, a middle aged alcoholic woman
Her body is 40 and her mind is 20
Aged, but not willing to accept it
She does anything to fight the truth
Chasing the invisible squirrel that possesses her youth
She follows the squirrel to every pub
Making late night rounds all over town
Chasing her depression down

Every night about a quarter till nine
She starts the evening with a glass of wine
Talking to people, and getting along fine
Listening to music, and dancing with swine
Making new friends, and reuniting with old ones
Her breath smelling of liquor
She finds her way home
Her eyes are glossy and her bark slurred
Her middle aged crisis magically cured

Is this supposed to be read to the tune of "One More Saturday Night?" I don't know, it probably isn't but I'm stoned and the lyrics remind me a little of the Dead. Really good poem either way.
