...this poem may not make any sense, but just so you know...it's about more than actually rolling dice.

With the Roll of the Dice

With the roll of the dice
Which number will you pick tonight?

Even though it’s no fun,
You can only pick one.

So let it all ride.
Let’s hope that your number
Falls-and on the right side.

If not,
The bet is lost.
And at what cost?
The numbers you thought
were wrong.

Ah yes, one would perhaps perceive that this poem is about casinos. I think there's more to it. I don't really know though. I think I did about 5 minutes ago, but I can't remember.

my ston-ed interpretation:

"you can pick only one" to bet on, but if the bet is lost, the cost is "the numbers you thought were wrong". I'm thinking one way to take this out of a gambling context, is that 'Life is short, you can only do so much, what happens is a consequence of your decisions, you have to gamble since you can only pick one route through time to live your life, but if your gamble wasn't what you wanted, you've lost forever the abillity to take those other 'wrong numbers', or paths, in life. And since life is a continuing process you make these decisions night after night'

I'm kinda burnt out and very tired but I thought it might be fun to see how a bunch of stoners interpret your poem littleC, so that's my input

choices i assume. How the consequense of our actions are not always what we thought they would be. In a good way or a bad way.

One thing can change your life forever or it might not, but don't let that stop you from living?

pretty good interpretations guys, just about right on the money. jac basically summed up the general meaning so there's no reason to rehash it, i was basically writing it in a more personal context but it can definitely be applied universally.
