| Hey guys! This is my first time posting here. I'm taking a poetry class right now, and for it, I wrote this italian sonnet. I got pretty good feedback in the class, so I thought I'd post it here to see what you guys think. I'm actually starting to enjoy writing poetry a lot, so maybe I'll post here more often.Deadline The unrelenting digits shift and glare To mock me of the precious loss of sleep I trade off for the promises I keep. I seethe in prison, tugging fists of hair. My rubber soles and brain begin to wear, as I descend a chasm awfully steep, its bottom distant, daunting, dark and deep. All this, without a blink of rest to spare. Yet, I deserve nobody’s sympathy. My own indulgence led me to this end. When work confronted me, I chose to run. Its angry shrieks had pleaded me to cede; its nonexistence, I tried to pretend, but now, I’m toiling underneath its gun. © 2004 Dan Cardillo

I also believe that future historians will look at this epoch and recognize it as another instance of the 'madness of crowds.'" ~Dr. Lester Grinspoon |
