High all,

feel free to slap me for posting two poems in one shot, but I figured one post is easier to ignore than two... anyway, this is my first poetry posting here (legitimately)

unrelenting zip

who am I trying to fool you won’t do anything about a poem
if these words were a dandelion you’d not even blow them
denied like a mysterious life form growing in your fridge
won’t believe the battle until missiles fly over your ridge
you might be startled at first sight but then be distracted
attracted to being active until enthusiasm is counteracted
whether by a rerun of Grease or business volume increase
won’t be helping at all with an innocent prisoner’s release
or do anything to at least chip away at the base of tyranny
odds are you still fly the hypnotic flag of a historic country
instead of working even a bit for the cause of true freedom
watch taxed wages become kisses on the seal of a kingdom
then again I’m not judging you
I’ve just never heard from you

most people these days read poems like the back of a street sign
doesn’t suggest where’s worth going or add a way-point to a mind
find all that’s right maligned and still just decide to hit the grind
time to go power an evil empire with my honest wholehearted work
I’d need three more imaginations to picture the president’s smirk
if I checked him into peace talks I’d fill in “hi my name is” jerk
maybe I should be more reverent since some respect goes a long way
like where good men are forced into changing how they spend a day
sometimes even to making people second guess the reason they pray
after all who trusts in God these days between doses of the maze
if you jumped into most people’s heads you’d find a fiendish craze
itching with money lust feeling like a light sensitive bat ablaze
care to notice an average black male spends a third of life in jail
same chance of survival as a fat infant head first in a bleach pail
corrupt backslide like a few hundred years of sailing against a gail
the government soaking up rights like heat from rocks by an iguana
education system feeding off the youth like a flesh bloated piranha
future slaves just say no since we punish heroin same as marijuana
then again I’m just nudging you
to point out the people using you
claiming to want the best for you
not that any of this matters to you


hell under a halo

with enough morality to sink a ship carrying justice
and millions of officers in uniformity running alongside
we charge toward the battleground humming commercials
striking fear in the face of any child or nay sayer in our path
whether foreign or domestic
in the name of God and freedom
which we finally monopolized

terror gives us license to enforce greedy agendas freely
crushing blows like a jumbo jet kissing cubicles with a view
jaw shattering patriotic solution for abolishing the infidels
it’s time we got out the closet like a parade of homosexuals
yield to our rule or die you dissident
play along now or you’ll ruin our mood
call it genocide if you wish for euthanasia

with selfish kids in charge of safety believe your allowance is toast
forget building a humble future your volunteering is mandatory
pacifism and insolence are whatever won’t bathe blissfully in blood
or flock to institutions like a billion pigeons to a morsel of bread
roar righteous warrior to conquest
drive truth into hearts like a stake
drown them in fundamental tough love
a wake of soldiers like a lake of raging fire
