Still - the music lingered
Though the melody had ended
And the drum beat faded out to yesterday.
Still - my heart reverberated
And my appetite - not sated
Only grew with the sweet melody you played.

The minutes and the miles
Leave their sad and lonely smiles.
The hours still weigh heavy on my mind
Still the day can never end
But serves only to append you
To the soft and gentle memory you've made.

Still - the orchestration
Leaves a coda of frustration
Built upon a symphony of sighs.
The fatal bells of morning
Ring me out with their deep tolling
And leave me their cacophony of lies.
