| This is a poem I had to write about America for a class. America, home of the wasteful, the land of the freedom to be untasteful. America, home of parking lots, no one knows this is the land of the lost. America, why did you take their lives? And didn't stop with raping their wives. America, is this some sort of freak test? I'm asking cause it's obviously a yes. America, to prove it's points, will rip out your heart and all of your joints. America, masacres all of the residents, by voting in shitty stupid presidents. America, can you do no wrong? Or do you think everyone's been blind all along. America, say your final prayer, cause you'll be dead when life turns fair. America, you can't quit with the lies? You think there's wool covering everyone's eyes. America, in theory, always seems to avoid truth's query. America, I've come to respect, as the worst insult in every dialect. America, from bottom to top, looks like a heart attack that's not willing to stop. America, people are sick of living, how's it feel that that's the feeling you're giving? America, can't tell write from rong, hypnotizing us since the days of pong. America, home of the free, after it was stolen for you and me. America, home for someone, that cannot feel safe without a gun. America, make sure it's not concealed, so we know we'll die for real. America, can go on and on, like a broken record that's always turned on. America, white blue and red, 13 stripes commemorate the dead. America, we died for other's lands, after you placed beads into their hands. America, what war can be won? How long will it be until you're done? America, when will you see, in your world you can't be free.

| To tell you the truth I'm not that impressed. I like about a third of the lines but the others I feel are too simple. |

| Jut remember....you are part of the problem if you aren't doing anything to change the state of affairs you find so depressing. If you aren't willing to fight to change what you think is wrong, bitching about it is irrelavent. America's greatest fault, IMO, is apathy. People are content to sit around and whine, but aren't willing to do anything more about it. It takes a much braver soul to fight for what he or she thinks is right than it does to simply bitch and complain about everything they see as being wrongb with this country. So, i ask you....are you merely complaining, or are you doing what you feel you need to do in order to change? Your answer will drastically affect my opinion..... I ask you, are you an American, or are you one of the cowards that have given up hope for this country and would rather live elsewhere? Personally, I love my country, and while I may be frustrated at the CURRENT state of affairs, I don't plan on running away. Remember, we elect our leaders, for better or worse. I think these last few years have been a wakeup call to the people, and hopefully more thought will go into their voting from now on....

| Well, I suppose it's never too early to start doing things but, there really isn't much I can do right now. Also keep in mind this poem was written a few years ago. I don't really look upon most of this country's history as very honorable. I am an American, for sure, and I'm not running away. I will definitely, though, be visiting other places to see what they're like. Right now, I would feel completely unmotivated to fight for America. Probably I would fight to change it, though. |

| Fighting to change it, and for it are one in the same. By fighting for it, I don't mean military service. I mean fighting for the freedoms we are guaranteed as citizens of the United States. As for America's history being honorable, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a country that didn't have a few dark spots in its history. Every nation has its hours of darkness, and the US is no different. We didn't gas the Jews, we haven't committed mass governemnt-sponsered genocides, we don't imprison peoplefor voicing their concerns about the government. We don't drive over protesting students with tanks. We don't still alllow slavery. We don't oppress people because of their religious beliefs, or for that matter, KILL them for their beliefs.....the world as a whole has its dark side. You are focusing your attention on your homeland, because thats what you KNOW.....but much greater atrocities are committed all over the world every day |

| Oh I know, and I think this country has, like all other countries had a lot of 'dark spots'. And it has gotten better. We need to learn from recent mistakes though, at least. As for fighting for our rights and freedoms? I would fight for that. |

| We take our freedom for granted, yet we question how it is obtained. Chances are you will grow up and realize how the world truley works. It's pretty sad, but the truth hurts. Humans are corrupt by nature, or so I believe. |
