I am working on my first batch of tincture and to control cost have started small. Two buds(finely chopped) that together would equal the size off my thumb in an airline bottle of vodka (50ml). My hope is to let this soak a while, remove the existing herb, replace it with roughly the same amount, and keep repeating the process until I just can't resist. My question: is there a point where the vodka just can't absorb anymore thc? Or can I keep cycling new herb into the bottle and continue gaining potency? Anyone have any experience trying something similar?

I make cannabis tincture a lot, and I've never heard of your method. I've never used vodka either. This is the recipe I use, currently:

One half pint of grain alcohol
1/4 oz high quality marijuana (AKA-KB, Crippy, etc)

Grind marijuana finely, and add to grain alcohol. Put in the freezer for 30 days. Take bottle out daily, and shake. Remove the cap to release any built up gases, and re-cap. At the end of 30 days, strain the alcohol through cheesecloth into a clean container, and dispose of the used marijuana.

I actually had a bacardi 50 ml bottle it was about 60 percent full so lets say 30 ml
i put about a gram in there
let it sit and shook it alot
for 24 hours
took the shot

...nothing .

You didn't use enough finely ground marijuana. You should use a minimum of 1/4 oz.

Here's my recipe again:

haha if i have to use a quarter and get me high once why even do it?
i honestly dont think 30 ml of 80 proof vodka can absorb more than a gram or twos worth of thc

Exactly. I only put a few drops into a small glass of Sprite, 5-10 drops, depending. I will add that I got my tincture recipe right here on this website, when the recipe forum was working. It has never, ever failed me. When you are making tincture, and cooking with marijuana, it takes a lot more than when you smoke it, so you have to expect that. Or, just don't make tincture and edibles.

Vicki and anyone else who has had it, would you mind elaborating on the effects?

How does it differ from smoking? Is it like a stoned and drunk feeling or...?

Couldn't find any experience reports on erowid.

I don't mind at all.

For me, smoking brings on the effects a little faster than ingestion. It sometimes takes 10 minutes for me to feel the tincture. It's sort of head and body high at the same time. It's good for pain and inflammation too.
