| I hope the title is descriptive enough, because this post entails all of the above. This past summer I've made weed brownies a few times, but here is a detailed outline of the first two times. First Time: July 1 2008 Ingredients: Cannabis 7 grams high grade (Canadian ) Butter 1/4 pound Semi-sweet Chocolate 3/4 pound Sugar 1/2 cup Eggs 3 Flour (all purpose) 1/2 cup Nutmeg 1 pinch Cinnamon 1 pinch Vanilla Extract 2 tbs I ripped apart the cannabis buds and then placed them in a blender. Once chopped up, it was set aside. Chocolate and butter was combined in a pot and melted over low heat. Once melted, the sugar and spices were added, and then flour and cannabis was added. This was mixed while a baking dish was greased and set aside. The oven was heated to 350º F, and then a splash of milk was added to the very thick substance which should have resembled brownie mix. This was then mixed again, and poured into the baking pan, and placed in the oven. A minute later, it became evident that the eggs were forgotten, as they were still on the counter. Thus the baking tray we removed, the eggs were cracked into it, and a mediocre attempt was made to mix them in. It worked poorly, as a layer of egg white remained on top of the brownies. It was placed back into the oven for 25 minutes. Meanwhile… I've been smoking marijuana and/or hash off and on for just over four years now. I've tried firecrackers twice in the past, using approximately a gram and a half or so sprinkled on top of crackers topped with peanut butter, and this worked reasonably well. Once the brownies looked done, they were removed from the oven and let cool. The egg white had formed a peculiar rubber like substance coating the brownies, and tasted likewise. The brownies were of regular consistency, reasonably dry, and stuck to the baking pan. There were an estimated 4 servings, each of which contained approximately 1.75 grams cannabis. The next day, 1 serving was consumed at lunch time following a meal. Quantitative: After an hour, the feeling began to manifest, with a peak at about two hours. This lasted about four hours until the effects started to subside. They dissipated very gradually and were felt for the remainder of the day. Baseline was never full attained that day until sleep occurred. Qualitative: The oral consumption of marijuana provides much more of a body buzz than a mental high. The feeling of mental sedation and body relaxation as a present 'background' feeling. They did not take precedence over other feelings. When marijuana is smoked, a 'trip' may occur, whereas the gradual body buzz felt from the oral consumption of marijuana results in a very steady intoxicated state. Feelings of general well being were present, along with a slight decrease in motivation. Generally, I enjoy smoking marijuana more than smoking it. I created the following graph to illustrate the experience: http://www.marijuana.com/attachment....1&d=1222356736 Second Time: July 12 2008 Ingredients: Hash 6 grams high grade (verified Afghanistan 'Gold Seal') Butter 1/4 pound Milk Chocolate 3/4 pound Sugar 1/4 cup Eggs 3 Flour (all purpose) 3/4 cup Nutmeg 1 pinch Cinnamon 1 pinch Vanilla Extract 2 tbs This time around, I decided to use hash instead of marijuana. The hash was shredded with a serrated knife into small pieces and sticky flakes while the oven preheated to 350º F. Then some of the milk chocolate and butter were placed in the pot and melted over low heat. At this point, some of the hash was added and mixed in. All of the other ingredients were combined in a bowl and mixed thoroughly, and then added to the pot of butter, chocolate, and hash. Now some more hash was added. As mixing went on, the rest of the hash was added and continued to be stirred over low heat. At this point I realized I forgot half the chocolate, so that was added and continued to stir. (I'm laughing now, because I always forget something or get distracted and every time the brownies turn out differently.) All in all, the chocolaty mixture was left on the stove for longer than usual because of my laps in memory. Perhaps this increased the amount of hash that was effectively absorbed by the fat in the mixtures. Now the brownie mix was poured into a pan and cooked for 22 minutes. Once the brownies were done, they were removed and left to cool. This time they resembled brownies much better than last time – they were moist, chocolaty, and did not stick to the pan (which was greased properly this time) Very rich in taste, and small hash pieces could be found. There was a mistakenly estimated 8 serving, each with approximately 0.75 grams hash. After I ate one, I changed this to 16 serving, each with approximately 0.4 grams of hash. Keep reading to find out why… 1 original serving was consumed at around 2:45 one normal afternoon (this would later be described as 2 servings). I began to feel the effects of the hash almost immediately, which was surprising. I hadn’t eaten anything lately, so perhaps this was in part due to the consumption of hash on an empty stomach, but I waved this off as a slight wave of adrenaline. By 3:30 or 4:00, I thought I was fully baked. Not half-baked, but wholly and completely. In the past, I had thought that I knew what it was like to reach that point where one cannot get any higher. There was a day when I had been smoking marijuana all day, and there came a time where it no longer had any added effect. I felt fried, and out of it, but it was good. I assumed that all cannabinoid receptors saturated, the intake of more THC didn’t do anything. I thought this was the peak I could reach with brownies… not so… not so. ![]() At around 5:00 I was surprised that not only did the feelings become stronger, but that he started to become disoriented. Feelings of sedated disconcertion began to set in, markedly different from a stoned confusion. It wasn’t that I couldn’t understand something in particular, but that I couldn’t even comprehend what there was to understand. This was comparable to the look one has the instant they are woken up form a deep slumber, and they have yet to make sense out of the information their senses provide. At this point I passed any peak I had known before, and continued to climb up into a strange and uncomfortable abyss. An hour or so later I was alarmed. Not in a paranoia way, this was not a panic attack in the general sense of the term. One who has a panic attack understands that they consumed too much, and they feel a sense of fear. Their heart is racing, they want it to stop. I simply began to realize that I was about 50% coherent and non-responsive, and that I had consumed much too much hash. I also knew that there was nothing he could do and that he was safe – that is – that one cannot overdose on marijuana. By around 7 I turned green. I know this because I walked into a friends home where the homeowner commented on this very pale and green appearance, inquiring about what was wrong. This person does not consume marijuana. They would not be familiar with the term ‘greening out’. I said that 'I knows', and that 'I feel unwell', and then went to lie down. From this point forward, what I experienced could be described as a nightmare. I have a partial memory of several events which took place from 7 until 9, including sitting up and answering simple questions asked by a friend. I aware of my heart racing, but also had no feelings about my current state of being, other than the severe discomfort. At times it appeared as though the room was shaking or moving, but not in a dizzying way as with alcohol intoxication, but rather in a disturbing and confusing way. He felt somewhat sick for a little while and inclined to vomit, but did not. It was as though he was poisoned. His vision was mildly blurry and fragmented, focusing was not possible. He fell asleep at 9:30 or so. The following graph illustrates this experience: http://www.marijuana.com/attachment....1&d=1222356736 The red line is a normal high with a relative peak. The orange line is where I surpassed the regular peak I had known. The green line is where I greened out and fail to fully recollect what happened. Every time is approximated. I woke up the next day at 9 having slept approximately 12 hours. The sleep was restful, dreamless, and otherwise uneventful. It is somewhat likely that I woke up during the night but do not remember doing so. I felt a strong buzz when I woke up, and this lasted until the late afternoon. The buzz was a groggy, but still marijuana-like buzz. I went to sleep that night and woke up fully sober. No lasting effects.
