What's happenin' everybody? I have a once in a lifetime chance to make some super strong Green Dragon. I have a half brown grocery bag of low grade leaves and trim (it has been working suprisingly well for brownies) and roughly 1.5 to 2 pounds (that's right pounds) of low grade (extremely seedy and wild) bud. This stuff sucks to clean because of all of the seeds, and tastes like crap, but there is a slight head buzz. I also have 750 mL of Everclear.

This is what I plan on doing. First thing is take all of the bud, leaves and trim and run it through a screen to break it up into powder and seperate the seeds and stems. Then I'm going to put it into the oven at 220 for 20 minutes to decarboxylize it. Now this is the part where I really need som input. I know that I can just add the shake to the everclear a little at a time, straining it every 4 weeks and adding more, but that is going to take forever. Is there a fast way to extract with the alcohol? I don't mind heating it and I have a thermometer to keep the temperature within a range. What is the optimum temperature and how long should I keep it at that temperature to extract the thc? How much alcohol will be lost due to evaporation? This is my first time making green dragon. The reason that I am in such a hurry is I am going camping November first and would like to have it for the trip. What I'm really going for something strong enough to be able to ge high from 1-4 droppers full sublingually (sp?).

I plan on doing this on Saturday while my wife and daughter are away for the day. I can't wait to hear your suggestions.

Just to let you know, I am fully aware of the dangers involved with heating alcohol, although I am interested in suggestions for heating the alcohol safely. I just had an idea, what if I poured the entire bottle of everclear into a glass bowl, added the green, covered the bowl with cling wrap (to keep from evaporating) and set the bowl on a heating pad. Then I can strain the alcohol once a day and add more green for the next 15 days. Would the heating pad get hot enough to speed up the process? Would it get to hot to leave unattended? Would a metal pot an glass lid be better that the glass bowl and cling wrap because of pressure build up?

Anyway...I could just list all of my questions, but I'd rather have a conversation about it. So please, hit me with some opinions.

I've always used the cold method, so I am unsure about techniques involving heat. Do you plan to grind up the herb before adding it to the alcohol?

Actually, I plan on grinding it before I put it in the oven.

How long does it take you using the cold method? If I remember correctly, you use 120 proof vodka, right? I wonder if everclear would be faster due to higher proof using the cold method.

It takes 4 weeks, using the recipe that I have. I always use grain alcohol/Everclear.

Now I'm throwing this wayyyy out there, but to flambe is to burn the alcohol thus leaving the heavier liquids intact. I'm not entirely sure, but if you were to extract the THC in alcohol, and, carefully (and outside in a clear area) flambe the alcohol leaving only the extracted THC. Then, add a little bit of alcohol to taste (depending on whether you want a viscous or non-viscous drink).

I think that the boiling point for everclear is like 160 degrees F. I figure if I can keep it below 150 or 155, then I can keep the alcohol from boiling and evaporating away. I'll keep you posted on the results.

So I finished my experiment with much disappointment thus far. I decarboxylized all the bud and ran it through a screen. I used 100 grams and started off with 24 ounces of everclear. I heated the alcohol to about 150 degrees for 20 minutes, straining it and adding more green until the entire 100 grams had been cooked for 20 minutes in the alcohol. I ended up with 16 ounces of dark blackish green liquid. It is completely undrinkable. Not taking into consideration that everclear tastes like death on it's own, when you add the essence of ditch weed, it then tastes like death served in dirty ass. I tried to drink a half shot of it and it was so terrible that I got sick, and no high.

So what I've done now is evaporate the alcohol away. I now have 3.5 grams of gooey black tar. I hope that as it sits out in the air, it dries out more and is less messy to work with. Right now, when I hit it with the lighter, it liquifies too fast.

Oh well, live and learn right?

Well, that leads me to believe that my tincture will turn out tasting nasty, just like I thought. Now, I don't know what to do with all the ABV that I have, and I have a TON.

The thing about tincture is it sounds like it should work subligually, but have you ever put grain alcohol under your tounge or even tried to hold it in your mouth for any amount of time? It hurts pretty bad.

What you should do with your avb is put it in cooking oil, heat it to 220 for 20 minutes and strain it. Then cook with the oil. I've been doing this with the leaves and trim from all of the ditch weed I found and making brownies. I'm shocked at how good they are working considering what I'm making them with. I've even had unbiased confirmation as to their strength. So Ive decided that oil is the way to go.

And that is actually my conclusion to this experiment. The best way to get high without smoking or vaping is 1) DECARBOXYLIZE, 2) cook the weed in oil (highest fat content possible) at 220 for twent minutes, and 3) cook with the oil. The high is comparable to 1/2 of a 500 mg Vicodin.

Live and learn indeed. A shame it didn't work out. What do you think went wrong? Your method sounds different than others I have heard (who just mix the alcohol/herb, let it sit, then strain), and this is verified from Vicki. I know she has had suckles with the 'cold' method. I think what went wrong is the addition of heat. But, then again, I've never made Green Dragon and have little experience with making product out of trim.


Do you have any trim left kcbennie? Maybe give it another shot using the 'sit and wait' method? I'm sure a recipie/tek can be found either here or other places.

Well. I dunno about that, but I got what your saying. I have about an ounce + of AVB right now and I plan on using this tek to make some AVB Peanut Butter Cookies as soon as I get over 3 ounces. Shouldn't take much longer
