...does Mayonaise go good with salmon?
It's the kind of salmon thats in that little pouch, all chopped up nd whatnot.
I kinda want to make a salmon sandwhich. I think mayo would taste pretty good with it, any other ingredients to put in?

i personally never like sea food, even though i have 5 king salmon in my freezer and some random trout and pike i caught and cleaned myself. the only time i ever liked fish was when i was pissed hammered and just smoked a huge jay. tinfolied and cooked over an open flame with some butter, it was okay but it wasnt great or anyhting.


one time i bit the head off of a living fish, its probbally not my proudust moment,but i thought i should metion it.

Take this from someone who has worked in the Alaskan Salmon fishing industry for several years, both on boats and in processing plants and smokeries -- pink salmon is shit.

When I worked on a tender boat, we would haul in pink salmon by the thousands of pounds. They were so fucking nasty and stinky. They were worth less than a dollar a pound. We would suck them out of the hull with a gigantic tube and their guts would be everywhere, along with fish shit and eggs. I've since vowed never to eat canned pink salmon again. Fresh pink salmon is OK, but it's not the best.

When they process them in many fisheries they don't even bother taking the bones out. They are so tiny to begin with and it's not worth the time effort. Basically its a ground up, smushed old humpy (humpy is a term for pink salmon because of how the fish is ugly as sin and has a hump on the back, 'humpback').


I'd recommend getting some real salmon dude, it's an awesome experience. Make sure its not farmed!

But anyways, yeah, it's not good with anything (at least from a salmon connoisseur).... but I'd recommend mayo, green pepper, salt, pepper, maybe some green onion and mix it up to make a sandwich. It's not half bad, but it's not the best either. Makes me wanna send you some real fish dude. lol

Alaskan salmon sells for a ton in Europe. All the salmon we get is farmed from Norway and polluted to the gills with heavy metals, so Alaskan salmon gets sold in all the high-end food chains for easily twice or three time the price. Nice to hear this from the horse's mouth!

When you say 'mush', d'you mean the smoked salmon... uh, shavings that get sold vacuum packed on pieces of cardboard?

Salmon isnt my favorite fish, by any means, but this was just a spur of the moment kinda thing. I just saw a pouch of it in my cabinet and was like "hmm i could go for a fish sandwhich" lol.

I ended up mixing it with buttered rice and it had a little bit of corn in it too. I put some pepper in there, some mayo, mixed it all up, and then slapped in on 2 slices of bread with some lettuce. Wasn't half bad.

You could mix in some dill, as well as some onion, lemon, and a bit of soy sauce.

i do salmon, chopped olives and pickles, mayo, salt and pepper. its pretty tasty. you can throw some lettuce and tomato on top of you want to also.

Not sure what you mean here..... care to elaborate? All Pink salmon is basically churned into a pate. Like I said, it's so cheap so they don't bother removing the eyes/bones/etc., it is usually canned or used in cat food.

And yes, don't eat farmed salmon, ever. It's fucking gross. They exist largely on their own feces and the meat turns a dull, white grey, instead of the pink in nature -- so they spray a dye on it to make it more appealing.
