Hello everyone, I believe this is my 1st post...................ok, I've made hash about 7 times using isoprophal and NEVER had any problems. The most i have ever done was about 3 oz of weed, and always varied from the recipe i found on here a little with GOOD results.....................i always used 71 0r 77 whatever it was ISO(i know the recipe calls for 91%), but I could never find it, and i also used a kitchen strainer instead of cheesecloth or coffe filters..................and ALWAY fared well.....................a couple of days ago i de-seeded, and de-stemmed 6 oz's..........buzzed a little in the ole coffee grinder and filled a clean pickle jar, put the lid on and let it sit in a dark cabinet 4 2 days......stirring occationally..........got it out, starined as usual and cooked on VERY low in pyrex to burn off ISO....................end result looked good until i scooped it all out and put it all on a piece of tinfoil as usual. The huge lump was not NEARLY as sticky and gooey as usual and it seemed to dry up and turn into a lump of dust. Normally it dries to a point and is workable to turn it into a nice "ball" .....................HELP.............what happened??????????????

A-----was it too dry to begin with and there were not enough "oils" left?

B-----Did using the 91% do something wrong............which i cannot imagine??

C----should I have done it in smaller batches???

D-----Can i salvage what I have by re-doing and using cheese cloth???

E----my theory is that the bud was too dry and too much dust went through when straining............causing way too much product................but honestly it smells ok.................but to smoke just is wierd.............after 2 hours of drying i have a huge lump of green dust that smells like hash..........................Please and thank you guys......................................I've been lurking 4 a while now

It might be that you have to press this lump of dust together to get it to form any sort of shape. It should be fine though, so long as it's perfectly dry.

What was happening your 70% is that whatever excess gunk they put in the Isopropyl to fill it was sticking around and not evaporating.

Right now you have something much purer, I believe.

i agree, roll it into little balls if you can, or just press it into a block of hash with some two random flat surfaces
