| So I've been cooking for a while and i wanted something a little more interesting rather than just cookies, brownies, firecrackers etc. So I came across this recipe for Amaretto: 3 cups sugar 2 1/4 cups water 1 pint vodka (16 oz.) 3 tablespoons almond extract 1 tablespoon vanilla 1. Combine sugar and water in a large pan. Bring mixture to a boil. Reduce Heat. Let simmer 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from stove. 2. Add vodka, almond extract and vanilla. Stir to mix. Store in airtight jar. Now my question for the more experienced chefs out there is, what is the best way of extracting the thc into alcohol? I've heard and read from many sites that you can leave your bud in alcohol and the cannabinoids will leach out into the alcohol over a period of 2-4 weeks is this true and if not please show me a safe method of extraction. |

| So does that mean you're planning on thc amaretto? And yes, leave the buds in alcohol and the resinous thc will dissolve.

| Just make sure to grind the bud, leaves or whatever parts of the plant you are using very fine, that way it will be easier for the alcohol to absorb the fun out of the cannabis. |

| You are seriously diluting your alcohol % with this recipe. I have used store bought Amaretto with modest success but the lower the alcohol % the slower the diffusion of thc into the alcohol and the less thc that a given amount of alcohol can absorb. You might consider using straight vodka at a ratio of 1.5-2 grams of the best bud you can afford with 1 oz. of vodka. After letting it soak for at least 4 weeks mix with an equal amount of amaretto, place in an open container like a mason jar or measuring cup, cover the top with a piece of cloth or a paper towel to allow it to breath, now let it sit in a dark area for a few days to allow about half of the liquid to evaporate. You will now have amaretto flavored Green Dragon. Considerations- Your end product will be a reflection of what you start with. The better the bud the better the tincture. The longer you wait the more thc will be absorbed/diffused into the alcohol. 4 weeks will work but 6,8,or 10 weeks is even better. This sounds unbearable but commit an 1/8 to research, split it in half and put about an ounce of alcohol on each half. Test one batch at 4 weeks, but let the other one sit for as long as you can and see if you notice any difference. these links might help-http://greendragonsoda.com/How to Make "Green Dragon" The Definitive Green Dragon (Revised, Updated, Combined) - Cannabis Forums Message Boards - Medical Marijuana, Cannabis Club, Dispensary, News |
