Default Drying fruit skins

Does anyone know how to dry the skins of ruits (apples or pears) without them getting rotten...? My plan is to do this, and smoke them with some herb, to give it a bit of a different flavor... Thanks!

You want to dry fruit skins and then smoke them? I don't know, that really can't be good for you. Why not buy some of the tobacco they use in hookahs, they are already flavored with different fruits and so on. Then again, if you don't want to smoke tobacco then the only other thing I can think of would be to buy some already dried herbs like mint and adding it to your joints.

Honest question here, why do you think it would be harmful? I really have no clue if it is or it isn't but just wondering........

I cant really figure that out myself, but my guess is mold growth... Cept there has to be a way to dry the skins without mold because people sell dried fruit as like candy...

Put your fruit skins on a screen in a place with good air circulation or with a fan. They'll quickly dry out to the point where they're too dry for mold to form. I make my own dried fruit using a gadget that stacks up screens in a box and has a fan forcing air through the stack. Skins are thin enough that they don't require such a fancy arrangement.

Before you get involved too far, try drying some skin in a microwave and see how it smokes. Most fruit doesn't concentrate its flavor in the skin. Skin tends to be kind of bitter.

And if you decide to do this with any kind of citrus fruit like a lime, lemon, orange, grapefruit, etc., make sure the skin doesn't have any white on it, which is the part of the skin that's really bitter. Following Buzzby's idea, here's a good way to dry fruit:

Get a box fan and two to three air filters, the ones you use for your house; make sure they are the same size as the fan though. Put your fruit skin, or herbs, in between the filters and spread them out. Get one of those bungee cords and secure the stacked filters to it. Then just turn the fan on for 12 hours and flip the filters around so the other side can get air, and do it for another 12 hours.

And be sure to pick the little pieces of fiberglass out of the fruit before you eat it.
