| so I was going to proceed with the Quick Wash Isopropyl Alcohol tek with about a full ounce of buds- good stuff. Im not a big smoker, more into vaporizing now (tryin to be healthy, ya know) and have recently been considering oil, and cooking and then I thought....cooking with oil? If I made hash oil with the isopropyl alcohol tek and melted it into however much butter the recipe I am going to use calls for (probably fudge) would it work? should I disregard the thought? anyone have experience doing this? should I use the hash oil from an entire ounce to make fudge (atleast 24 servings)? any and all suggestions, tips, experiences, teks, etc are welcome and appreciated! thanks! |

| 1 ounce of buds isn't going to give you much hash oil, and I wouldn't use the isopropyl method either. You're best bet is just make straight cannabis butter with the entire ounce. More bang for your buck.

| I concur. Making hash oil is a complicated and unnecessary step that doesn't gain you anything. Quote:

| haha well those 24 servings wont go to 24 people, I'm thinking like in a 9x13 pan cutting it 6x4 would an iso wash get more out of the ounce than making cannabutter? if i make the cannabutter itll be done in a crockpot- how long should it be in there on the lowest setting? ill be using ghee. |

| And a crockpot is perfect too because it's portable. Make sure it's on the lowest temperature and KEEP THAT LID ON! You don't want any THC escaping with the steam into the air. You can (I suppose) keep the butter in there for as long as possible, but honestly 30-60 minutes will do you JUST fine. It's also a good idea to start with ghee (clarified butter, like the stuff they serve with lobster or crab, basically just butter w/o the fat solids) if you have the time. You can find a ghee recipe anywhere too (www.allrecipes.com, www.foodtv.com). Good luck! |

| Steam distillation of organic compounds: The water can carry with it a small amount of a high-boiling substance. This is precicely how you isolate essential oils from things like cloves and lavender. Any organic chemistry lab manual should cover it, if you want to know more. |
