| Would it be safe if I were to add sugar into the simmering of the weed and the butter to sweeten some cannabutter up? Would they make my cannabutter any more/less effective? I like sweet butter...I guess that is why I'm asking. Thank you in advance for any help with this. |

| I wouldnt do it. Just use the sugar as each recipe calls for it. If you want it sweeter then is the time to add the sugar. Adding sugar to the cannabutter will give it a overly sweet taste and a grainy texture. Plus if you drop it in while your cooking your going to have a carmelized mess. But no it shouldnt effect the potency. I would just add it to the specific recipe instead of the butter. Just so you know Cannabutter really doesnt taste that great straight(read that "makes you gag"). Its alot better when you use it to prepare a dish with. |

| Yeah there's really no point in adding it to the pan when you are making cannabutter, it's only going to make a big grainy mess, like sand. Just add it when your recipe calls for it.

| Don't cook the sugar with the buter and pot when making the cannabutter. Sugar burns at a low temparature and turns to carbon -- the result would be disastrous On the other hand, cannabutter can be used like normal butter when making cookies from scratch and that requires the sugar and butter be "creamed" (blended) together. And as pointed out, butter and sugar and heat (and a dash of salt) make soft stage candy or "caramel" -- it also makes butter cream based "icing" or "frosting" (depending on which side of the Mason Dixon line and the Mississippi you hail from. | |

| If you are not trying to make caramel you would have to be one lucky lucky person to mess that one up just right. I myself have had some sugar fiascos go down in my kitchen. |
