Default Chili Con Cannabis - My First Truly Successful Marijuana Eating Experiment!

I've only recently begun experimenting with alternative methods of using cannabis after smoking it for my entire adult life. This is about my fourth serious attempt after three semi-successful tries (the previous being hot chocolate, brownies and apple-cinnamon muffins).

Here's what I did:

I took a tablespoonful of olive oil and a tablespoon full of chopped mids and simmered it covered for about an hour on an oil warmer (the kind where you have a glass suspended above a candle). I wasn't able to use it right away, so I covered it and saved it in the refrigerator for a couple of days.

I left the plant matter in the oil, and mixed it with:

1 cup of restaurant chili
Half a cup of cooked brown rice
Half a cup of water
1/4 tsp of dried minced garlic
1/4 tsp of chili powder
A dash of cayenne
1 tbsp raw chopped onions

I then heated this up until it was hot all the way through and simmered it for a few minutes, then ate it. It was delicious. I liked the flavour given to it by the olive oil and the bud. Now, about an hour and a half (I think? duhh!! ) later I'm most pleasantly and thoroughly STONED.

It feels totally different from being stoned from smoking. My body feels more relaxed and my head less fuzzy. It's very mellow and nice.

One little problem, though, is that usually when I smoke I can still function pretty much as normal. I can't say I see myself being able to do that in this condition! Wheeee! This is fun!

Is this what being stoned felt like when I was 13?

Congrats man! The only thing that is stopping me from cooking with cannabis is the cost. You only used a tablespoon of bud though? That doesnt seem to bad .

I'd have to say it was very much worth it I'm really burnt out on smoking, and I think I'd rather do this once a WEEK than get stoned from smoking every day!

Oh, PS: I'm not a man

I always hear a lot of people saying that it's so expensive, but I can't fathom that unless of course you are using the finest bud you can purchase. Mid-grades or schwag will work just fine, mid-grades preferably because less prep work to deal with and a slight bit more THC content.

A question for you: for the amount of bud you used, how long did you stay high? Now, compare that to how long you stay high when you smoke, and then divide the amount of bud you used by the amount it cost and see just how much that tablespoon cost you.

For example. Let's say you bought 14 grams of mid-grades, and that ran you $30. A tablespoon of chopped mid-grades is roughly, oh, 1-3 grams depending on how fine you chopped it up. If each gram is running you $2.15 then you only spent around $2-7 for a high that lasted you x-amount of hours, compared to the 1-2 hours that the 1-3 grams normally would have lasted you if you got high via smoking. It's really not that expensive when you look at it like that

And if you like the olive oil idea so much, a really good way to stretch that dollar is to put a whole ounce in some olive oil and don't cook it or anything; just let it sit in a brown paper bag for a couple of months and you can use the olive oil whenever you want to cook.

I hear ya, but around where I live $30 will get you about 4 grams(1/8 oz.). And when I smoke it is usally at most 300 mg. I do look forward to cooking, alot, in the future... when cannabis is legal.

I hear ya, Pot Shot. It costs at least that much for me as well. I treated myself to an ounce when I had some extra money because I really need to find alternatives to smoking. My lungs need a rest, and my tolerance is massive.

I'm going to start growing soon. I'm looking forward to cooking a lot more once I'm established doing that. Cooking is fun. Next time I do the chili, I'm going to try a lower dose and do it later in the day, though. I was massively stoned all afternoon and evening, crashed out by 10 p.m. and then slept until 9 the next morning. I haven't been stoned like that in years.

If you ever have enough, I do recommend trying it.

Tonight I tried a smaller dose, 1 tsp cannabis, 1 tsp olive oil, mixed with spaghetti sauce. I got a light buzz from it. Will increase to 2 tsps next time.

Cannabis sauteed in olive oil is absolutely DELICIOUS in garlicky foods! Yum!

Mid-grades, not seedless marijuana, though the mid-grades in my area usually lack seeds and only have a couple. I'm going by my area of course, but if you were to buy a half ounce (14 g) for $30 then it breaks down $2.14 per gram.
