| I have a buddy who brews his own beer from an assortment of things. He has used all sorts of hops, barley, herbs, and berries to produce some amazing brew. Now i was thinking, cannabis is part of the hops family right? and part of the herb family too. So wouldn't it seem possible that one could put a large amount of cannabis in the brew and let it ferment with the rest of the ingredients. Im am willing to make the sacrifice of bud for this experiment unless someone else has already tried it and knows it doens't work or if there is a valid explanation as to why it wouldn't work. I thought it might work becasue he has but some herbs in a past brew that gave euphoria. It seems like an interesting idea, and suggestions? |

| Intriguing idea...but I'd be afraid of the gargantuan potential to F#@K yourself up in a major ill way. The synergism with the alcohol would be torrential. It's tricky enough to manage alcohol and weed when used together but separately, if you know what I mean. One time after I ate a mean Leary biscuit I chugged a beer, to see if the alcohol in the beer could increase my GI weed absorption. Well, whatever the hell it did I COULD NOT MOVE for about 10 hours. Kinda like when you're alive inside but can't move, ilke in those voodoo movie where they bury people alive because the people are paralyzed and can't cry for help. Anyway, I'm gonna go make a hot cocoa (clean). ![]()

| Ever heard of green dragon? It's made by sitting a lot of weed in a bottle of alcohol (at least 151 proof) for a couple of months. Now granted, that's not brewing the alcohol straight from the buds, but it gets you ridiculously F'd up. I'd imagine a couple "green" brews would have a similar effect, and would have an interesting flavor. ![]() |

| Since marijuana is bitter, the beer might have an interesting taste assuming it was done properly. The bitterness would be canceled out. And yes, it would be similar to a Green Dragon, obviously not as intense. And I have to disagree with one user's comments about mixing the two. Granted we shouldn't venture too deep into the discussion, but some people can mix, others cannot. I have no problem with the two combined.

Brewing a beer with cannabis would eliminate this "excess" problem because you would be getting both at the same time and could regulate the combination more effectively. Thus, I think it's a good idea. Be careful to keep this on-topic. ![]() | |

| http://www.onr.com/user/liberty/Mari...eer/MBeer.html I think that dry hopping the brew with cannabis after fermentation would be the key, as the THC won't be dissolved unless alcohol is present. Soaking the weed in warm/hot water beforehand would help eliminate any unwanted flavors. After discussing it with some guys in my dorm, I think I may whip up a 5 gallon batch ![]() |

| That sounds like the way to go, let the yeast do its magic and then add the cannabis so it can "steep" in the liquid. Also, running it in the hot water is a good idea. Man, what would be really sweet is if you could get a really nice batch of cannabis, like some Durban Poison. That way you would get all the great tastes of said strain (the liquorice flavor for example) as undertones in the beer. You could literally make hundreds of varieties of beer, almost like wine, that have unique tastes similiar to that of the strain used in the process. |
