Is it possible to tweak the ratio of butter to pot to get stronger stuff? i.e. 1 oz. to 1/2 pound.

To a certain extent, yes. But keep in mind, that there is only so much THC that a particular amount of butter can absorb -- an upper limit.

I am curious as well. Lets say you have an ounce really high grade weed (14% thc), of the 28g total weight about 3.75g is thc. It would seem that 7.5g of fat will give you a 2:1 ratio of butter to thc, more than enough for all of the thc to be absorbed (albeit youll be simmering that butter for hours before that happens). I would bet you can make cannabutter using just enough high fat butter to cover all the weed (1 cup ground cannabis per cup of butter). I would not go so far though, the only time I would reduce the usual amount of butter used would be to accomodate a particular recipe.

I would rather make a higher quantity of weaker stuff than a lower quantity of stronger stuff. You can always eat more cookies, but if you make it so strong that one cookie takes you out of commission, it becomes a lot harder to regulate your dose.
