Acetone is an irritant and inhalation may lead to hepatotoxic effects (causing liver damage). The vapors should be avoided. In no circumstance should it be consumed directly or indirectly. Always use goggles when handling acetone; it can cause permanent eye damage (corneal clouding).
Small amounts of acetone are metabolically produced in the body, mainly from fat. In humans, fasting significantly increases its endogenous production (see ketosis). Acetone can be elevated in diabetes. Contamination of water, food (e.g. milk), or the air (acetone is volatile) can lead to chronic exposure to acetone. A number of acute poisoning cases have been described. Relatively speaking, acetone is not a very toxic compound; it can, however, damage the mucosa of the mouth and can irritate and damage skin. Accidental intake of large amounts of acetone may lead to unconsciousness and death.
The effects of long-term exposure to acetone are known mostly from animal studies. Kidney, liver, and nerve damage, increased birth defects, and lowered reproduction ability of males (only) occurred in animals exposed long-term. It is not known if these same effects would be exhibited in humans. Pregnant women should avoid contact with acetone and acetone fumes in order to avoid the possibility of birth defects, including brain damage.
Interestingly, acetone has been shown to have anticonvulsant effects in animal models of epilepsy, in the absence of toxicity, when administered in millimolar concentrations.[8] It has been hypothesized that the high fat low carbohydrate ketogenic diet used clinically to control drug-resistant epilepsy in children works by elevating acetone in the brain.

Hey Guys... I have been a member since 2000 and used to take growing advice from the wizard man or something of that sort. i have not been here in awhile and so i did not know my user name or pw pr the e-mail i registered with since that was 8 years ago. anyhow. i was wondering, are the trichomes on the marijuana itself suffice enough to make hash (not oil) or do you need the trichomes from the plant leaves and stock?

Hypothetically speaking of course, if one were to take a piece of pvc pipe, length and diameter to ones own need lets say 8"x1" with a rounded close cap and a open ring both threaded, drill a small hole on top of the closed cap and screw on pvc pipe grind the organic matter as fine as you can loosely pack the pvc pipe put a coffee filter on the other end and screw on open ring over the filter and take one bottle of tripple refined butane and blast the whole bottle through the pvc into a pyrex dish, the butane and oil will freeze when it hits the pyrex take the pyrex and place it in a sink with about one inch of HOT water it will begin to sizzle , thats the butane evaporating open all windows in the sink area, as well as making sure when you blast the bottle through the pvc do it in a in a well ventilated area NO OPEN FLAMES !!! beware of pilot lights on gas stoves when evaporating off the butane!!!what is left in the dish is pure honey oil ... total time to make oil 10 min... flowers make the most potent oil leaves and stalks work fine to. A friend has done it this way since for 15 years also disasemble the pvc pipe because it looks exactly like a "p-eye-p bawmb" as well as a possible manufacturing a c/s charge for any unlucky honey bee.
