Default Meat Loaf & Falafel

Both recipes are very similar so I am combining them here. Sorry that my recipes are in Farhenheit and my measures are in lbs and oz.... I'm SOOOO Amurikahn:

Ingredients for BASIC Meatloaf:

1 chop meat (usually $2 bucks a lb is about right)
1 cup of bread crumbs (I prefer the Italian Seasoned breadcrumbs)
2 eggs, broken into a bowl and beaten
1 can of beef stock OR 1 can of french onion soup OR 2 beef boullion cubes dissolved in 8 oz. of hot water

You will need:

large oven roasting pan (about 12" by 9" with at leas 2 inches height)
Oven set on 350degrees
Large mixing bowl
VERY CLEAN HANDS

HOW TO DO IT:
Mix all ingredients EXCEPT SOUP together in large mixing bowl until it is one large mushy mass...
Place in pan in shap of a loaf of bread (or a sleeping cat )
Pour soup over top and place in oven for 45 minutes.
Baste with juices the last 5 minutes

To make this Marijuana Meat loaf here's what you would do...
Add about 1/4 oz of sauted marijuana to the meat mixture when you are mixing, and pour the saute oil over the meat before cooking. The oils of the meat will absorb all that goodness

Meatloaf is fun becasue a basic meatloaf recipe can have all sorts of spices added to it... Garlic, Oregano, Basil, maybe some Curry. Some people like to cook in Tomatoe Sauce instead of the soup stock... Some folks cut up fresh potatoes into quarters and put them on the bottom of the roasting pan and they roast in the meat drippings... it's all good!

Meat is DONE when the center of the meat is Brown (you might have to slice into the loaf to check on it.) Let meat loaf sit for about 15 minutes before serving so it is easier to slice.

Cold Meatloaf makes great sandwhiches

BASIC RECIPE for FALAFEL (deep fried chick pea balls)

2 cans of ChickPeas (garbanzo beans)
1/2 to 1 cup of bread crumbs (I prefer the Italian Seasoned breadcrumbs)
2 eggs, broken into a bowl and beaten
4 cups of vegetable oil

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Large bowl
Potatoe Masher
Large Deep Pot
Strainer spoon

WHAT TO DO:
Drain and empty two cans of Chickpeas into large bowl
mash those little peas up into a paste
You can also add other seasonings to this if you wish -- garlic and basil are my favorites...
Add your two beaten eggs and bread crumbs to make a mess that can be shaped into little balls (abut the size of a golf ball or smaller)

These are deep fried in the oil which you heat in the large deep pot... You fry them until they are crispy golden brown

Drain and serve with Pita bread and Sesame Sauce (called Tehina available at most Natural Food Stores) or with any Sesame flavored Salad Dressing, or with a Sour Cream or Plain Yoghurt dip to which you have added some garlic, olive oil and perhaps some grrated cucumber (greek Tzatiki Sauce).

TO ADD WEED TO THIS RECIPE:
Add your sauted 1/4 oz or more to the mixture of mashed chick peas, eggs and bread crumbs.

ENJOY !!!!

Default Falafel King

This shoudl do yah...

Quote:
Falafel King
All hail to the King
BY ATTICUS FISHER
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kadhim Alzubaidy emigrated from Iraq to Massachusetts in 1994, and two years later he opened Falafel King in Downtown Crossing, filling a niche in an area of Boston lacking in Middle Eastern cuisine. " Food is love, " Alzubaidy says matter-of-factly, and if his long lunchtime lines are any indication, he’s not the only one who believes it.

Don’t expect frills: Falafel King is a take-out-only, lunch-only stand tucked away in a food court that’s way more New York City than Mall of America (that’s a good thing). But if you want solid Middle Eastern cuisine for under six dollars, and quick, the King rarely disappoints. Alzubaidy is arguably the fastest plate-lunch slinger in Boston, doling out salutations — " How are you today, my friend? Excellent! " — as furiously as he does trays. One suspects that the time-pressed lunch crowd appreciates the efficiency of Falafel King’s staff of five as much as it does the consistently good food. Repeat customers often receive a falafel with hummus, gratis.

Falafel King offers salads, vegetarian and meat wraps, and plate specials that feature the usual Middle Eastern fare: lightly seasoned chicken or lamb and beef for meat lovers, and falafel, tabouleh, baba ghanoosh, and grape leaves for vegetarians. Standouts include crispy but not overcooked falafel and tabouleh that isn’t overpowered by the greens — in this case, the ingredients stand on their own. Crisp dills make the otherwise ordinary shwarma sandwiches ($4.50–$5.50) memorable, lending a tangy accent to the soft but not overly dry pita. The vegetarian and kebab-meat plates ($5.50–$5.75) boast a flavorful rice pilaf cooked in chicken stock with bits of noodle. No matter how busy things get behind the counter, the romaine lettuce is always crisp, providing a solid foundation for Greek, hummus, baba ghanoosh, and chicken or lamb salads ($3.75–$5.75).

Here’s hoping this King remains in the building.

Falafel King, located at 48 Winter Street, in Boston, is open Monday through Friday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call (617) 338-8355.

Ground beef...(chuck, ground round...etc.) Even ground turkey works ... And you can make the loaf out of ground chick peas and substitute Vegetarian Broth for the Beef Broth to make a vegetarian meat loaf (try adding shredded carrots and chopped spinach to the veggie loaf )
