okay so i am making my first ever batch of butter, using vape leftovers and stems, and sort of hoping for the best. i am following directions according to this thread:

i also read that you can put your stems in the coffee grinder. i did this, and it didn't just mince the stems but ground it into a fine powder.

most of the stuff going in the butter is duff, however.i vape at or only slightly above recommended temperatures.

my question is whether it is supposed to look and smell so terrible, and i have just gotten it going right now. am i making ash-butter, or is this normal? i know that might be subjective, how can i describe it.. looks sort of like creamed spinach or or even lumpy fudge. a very very dark green hue. it smells awful.

now when i am done i am supposed to filter it through a cheesecloth, but right now it looks like a big pile of poo that won't seperate at all.

so am i overthinking this, or am i making ash-butter or something equally disgusting? obviously i will just try this (making brownies with it) and see how it goes, but i don't want to get sick eating this if i don't have to.

i think right now i am going to add a bit more butter because it might also be too chunky right now.

EDIT: so i added another half stick of butter and now it is less pooey, so i think i got the ratio right now, but still very dark and schmelly. maybe this is all normal, but that's my question i suppose.
