A Chicago suburb recently passed an ordinance that there would be no more trousers worn in such a way as to be lude or crude behavior by displaying the underwear. I know that a lot of younger people do this,(Younger being younger than forty, maybe? ) and I think it is an interesting topic.

How many of you wear the droopy pants? Who started this fashion craze?

Is it or should it be a crime to display your underwear in public view?

Since I don't wear my pants around my ass crack, I would like some feedback on this "fashion statement" ....

I guess I don't consider it polite behavior. I don't know. Do any of the ladies here think it's offensive?

I'd like to know the punishment they give someone who is simply exercising their right of self-expression. Shit like this pisses me off, although I don't wear my pants low, I find it stupid that people think they have some sort of 'control' over another human beings clothing.

First off, Why does it matter?
You can always advert your eyes if you think it's offensive. Women are on TV in bikinis, men half naked -- shit, walk down a beach and you see more skin than you imagined. Has underwear suddenly become something we are afraid of?


Secondly, What do they think this will accomplish?
Probably nothing, who is really going to take time out of their day to apprehend someone who is simply wearing their pants low? It's asinine, it's a waste of time. This suburb is probably more yuppie than an argyle turtle neck sweater....

I take pride in my individuality and self-expression, and have received a lot of condescending looks for simply being myself, even up here in ol' AK....

People need to accept that their will always be differences amongst individuals, and they need to understand that prohibiting self-expression is like choking a mans soul.

Their reasoning, from what I can understand, has as much logic as me banning wearing both hi-top socks and sandals because they are tacky.

Didn't the 'baggy pants/look' start with prison inmates getting larger clothes and so their friends on the outside would wear the same in respect?

To me it's in the same boat as M.C.Hammer pants. You remember Parachute pants

I wouldn't be caught dead wearing any of my explicit metal t-shirts at say, a wedding or cocktail party. At school? I did all the time. I had some pretty obscene ones too...

We had a strict dress code at our school, but it was rarely enforced. Man, thinking of high school reminds me of all those nice legs and breasts I am use to seeing... *ahem*

But in public? No.

I can wear whudduheva da' fuck I want strolling down the street. What is offensive to a person is subjective most likely on their upbringing -- which isn't my problem. I've seen just about it all and nothing offends me (except big fur parkas).

Ok Spiral, you agree that at some times and some locations it is inapppropriate to show your undies. I didn't know we were talking about t-shirts, and like you I have some bad ones I suppose...( The one that says "FCK, the only thing missing is U!" comes to mind).

I would not go to certain places dressed inappropiately. I guess I was just raise ddifferent and see some things as respecting other people's feelings.

My wife wants to know from the ladies if it's appropiate for a woman to show tit when she goes out with a low cut dress and push-up bra? Is this the same thing?

Ladies...gents...I apply my opinion to both sexes. I don't think it's attractive.

If by 'show tit' you are implying cleavage; I say it's relative. I don't think it's attractive to see a womans tits hanging out for all to gander at. But yet take the apparel in the 17th century; I don't think i'd go for that either. It's all about what's fashionable at the time.

Has anyone watched the TV show, "Cops"?

I find it sooooo funny when those skinny kids wearing their size 54 pants try to outrun the cops and their pants fall down around their ankles. Then they are handcuffed and their pants are around their knees and they can't pull them up. When the cops do a pat-down, they reach down to the perp's knees.

I always thought they might have a half-assed chance of actually getting away if their pants hadn't tripped them up.
