| Cop Shoots unarmed, possibly handcuffed, prone man in the back The Raw Story | Video: Calif. cop shoots apparently helpless man in the back Slain man's family files $25-million suit in BART shooting - Los Angeles Times New Questions Surface Following BART Shooting - NBCBAYAREA- msnbc.com This made me sick. From the facts availble, along with the vieo footage, it appears the cop shot a man, who was laying prone (possibly) handcuffed, and not causing significant risk to anyone. The likely defense? "Oh, I thought I was tazering him, not SHOOTING him" You'll see me defend law enforcement left and right on this forum. Just because I personally don't follow the law is no reason for me to hate those that enforce it. That being said, you'll NEVER see me support this type of action...EVER. UNLESS further review shows the guy going for a gun, or otherwise putting lives at risk, theres absolutely no justification, from what I can tell, for the tazering, let alone MURDER, of the victim. The whole "Oops, I thought I had my tazer" excuse holds zero credibility with me. Either the man is the world's biggest moron, or a cold=blooded murderer. Neither should be given a badge, a gun, and a sense of authority. If he was so poorly trained as to confuse a tazer and a .40 caliber handgun...he has no business carrying either. Whats sad is just last year in Maryland, a cop was found not guilty of violating a uspect's right against illegal search and seizure when the suspect was shot in the elbow as he was trying to flee. The officer's defense? "I thought I had my tazer out, not my firearm!" That court finding was absolute BS in my opinion. If we are going to trust people with firearms, ESPECIALLY law enforcement, we need to hold people responsible when they misuse them. The "oops, wrong gun" excuse CANNOT be allowed to fly with tazers becoming more and more common. The man was murdered, be it by criminal negligence, or pure cold-bloodedness.....regardless of why, we cannot allow this sort of thing to happen.

How feeble is the mindset to accept defenselessness. How unnatural. How cheap. How cowardly. How pathetic." If total government control equals safety, why are prisons so dangerous?
