Default Inmate Murdered After Put in Cell With Killer He Testified Against

Quote:
McALESTER, Okla. — A 23-year-old inmate beaten to death at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary had been put in a cell with convicted killer he had testified against.

Prison spokesman Jerry Massie says Paul Duran Jr. fought with one cellmate and then was put in a cell with Jessie James Dalton.

Duran was found beaten to death about 15 minutes later.

Massie says the two were not supposed to be put in the same cell and prison officials are trying to determine how it happened.

Duran and Dalton were co-defendants in the January 2002 shooting death of Billy Wayne Ray in Oklahoma City.

Duran pleaded guilty to a robbery charge and testified against Dalton who was convicted of murder and sentenced to life without parole.

Massie says investigators will present their findings to a district attorney who will decide if criminal charges will be filed.

This couldn't be a mere accident could it? Guards trying to teach him a lesson? Someone had to speak up! In the LEAST someone must've heard him getting the shit kicked out of him...
This is so unacceptable, I don't even have thoughts or words to describe it....just makes me sick.

If it was a well known case, I would say the guards must've known. I could see something like that happening, 'mistakes' don't really happen like that. In fact wouldn't the victim have seen his cell buddy and at least said something so he wouldn't be put in the same cell? I can't imagine him being fine being put into the same cell with the man he testified against.

That must have been the scariest moment of that mans life. Thats terrible.

Exactly. I wouldn't be surprised either if he just pissed the guards off somehow and this was their revenge. However I won't say it's likely, because I could be entirely off-base

Oh and I forgot the link in my first post, but its up now

We're talking murder here. He should've kept his mouth shut about murder? Are you kidding me? That's so cold.

No, he shouldn't have kept his mouth shut! When it concerns the health or well-being of others it's very fucking important to NOT keep your mouth shut. I'm glad that inmate opened his mouth, or else who knows, the other inmate could've been set free to kill again!

Just because a person is a convict he deserves death? Have you never committed a crime? Smoking pot aren't you? You may be a convict yourself one day. When someone finds you murdered in your cell, after you're in there for a pot charge I'm sure there will be someone there also to say "One less convict".

EDIT:

Hell, the judge went lightly on me, I could have done upto 2 years, and if I had over a year I would have been in PRISON instead of jail.
Seems it could've already happened to you. How nice would it be for someone to say "one less convict" at your death?

The man stole. Yes, it's wrong. But in no fucking way, shape, or form, does he deserve death for it.

He is saying that because YOU are a convict, you could've died in your cell and someone out there could have said "one less convict" even though you were only in there because of minor charges.

I don't believe anyone deserves to die unless they purposely caused the death of another person.

I meant you were a convict already. Meaning the you could've been killed in jail(whether you ran your mouth off or not) and there would be someone on the outside, like you right now, shrugging it off and saying "one less convict".

As Mushroom man pointed out, I'm sure you'd feel plenty different if you, or a family member was in his shoes....but of course, he's just a random convict..so fuck him

Maybe I would feel diffrently and maybe I would have got the beat down at some point, but everyone is a criminal in there, and everyone is trying to get over on ya... Dude wasnt on top of his game.

The whole thing wreaks of setup to me though.
