In the UK everyone is now referring to "skunk" as if it was a new type of superweed weed thats going to destroy the brains of every teenager in the world with its vice like grip of "strength and pervasiveness" inferring insanity and morale decay from a single deadly toke. Heres some news people its a STRAIN of cannabis no more deadly than the next.

Take this article from the TIMES no less, the most reputable paper there is (if there is such a thing) Skunk: “Kids think the strong stuff is the best stuff” - Times Online

I was going to go through the article pointing out everything false it says, but then I realised it would take all night, and I have work to do tomorrow.
But heres an example:

"An ounce of hash or weed sells for about £40, says Barry, a 28-year-old dealer. An ounce of good-quality home-grown skunk will fetch anything between £180 and £200.”

Are you kidding me? an ounce of hash in the uk generally means an ounce poor quality soapbar, and even then you could still be paying about £80. An ounce of what they call "skunk" but to a knowledgable smoker means "Nice bud" costs about 110-150, pretty much regardless of its strain/strength.

“Skunk is horribly strong - you can practically feel your brain cells knocking off,” says Ben, a 19-year-old student.'

Maybe you can buddy, actually it might account for your stupidity when you say something like "Horribly strong" you smoke weed yet you complain because its "horribly strong" thats like saying your food is terribly filling or your car is awfully fuel efficient.

If you remember the 'Brass Eye' "Cake" episode where Chris Morris lampoons this kind of stupidity, then you can see how the British media gets carried away with it.
Real Skunk started with California growers in the late '60's who cross-bred Afghani strains with regular Sativa. It was strong, but not nearly as potent as the Hash that used to be more common in the U.K. than herbal bud.
Even so, when I read any article from the British press that mentions "Skunk" I feel like putting my fist through the wall. It stinks almost as bad as the humble Polecat it's named after.

My rage on this subject is growing, try googling "skunk" and you will be greeted with headlines like;

"Skunk: how the safe drug of choice for the hippy generation became a serious health hazard"

"Skunk killed my beloved son"

"Deadly skunk floods city"

Cannabis was recently re-classified from a class C drug to class B drug (more illegal) in the UK, the complete opposite of the way things are going around the world.
This was due to the fascist home secratory Jacqui Smith aka the devil reincarnate. Do you know what her justification was? skunk is much more potent than other types of cannabis "we" are familiar with or have used. INFURIATING
The government consistently disposes evidence from the drug experts and listens to ignorant, uninformed and flatout incorrect prohibitionists.
